country living sucks sometimes
I swear it sucks living in the sticks at times. I love the solitude, but this b.s with satellites and phone service and taking 45 minutes to get to a store is maddening. It's raining with slight cloud cover, and yet again the dish is killing itself picking up a signal. I'm so sick of paying for this garbage that I just sent a nice, courteous e-mail to Dish Network. Can't wait to see what they send back to me.
"I don't have a question, I have an observation on your so called service.
It's amazing NASA can control a dune buggy a trillion miles away on Mars, but somehow it starts raining here with some slight cloud cover and your crappy dish won't pick up a signal. What a joke!!! It's mind numbing you actually expect people to pay for this garbage, lmao. Thankfully you aren't in charge of telephone service or if I ever needed to call 911 I'd be a skeletized mummy before the ambulance arrived. Great service, keep up the good work.
I won't hold my breath waiting for a response. I'll just put on some scuba tanks and take slow inhalations waiting for your charming reply I'm sure. Have a great day ninny heads."

Re: country living sucks sometimes
We had satellite out at our camp (cottage), and it was a total waste of money. Only time we wanted to use it out there was when it was raining, and that was the only time it didn't work.
Not having a choice due to your location I imagine is frustrating.
Re: country living sucks sometimes
Also though, bearing that in mind, I`d rather be fishing right now with tv, telephones and the internet being the last of my concerns.

True. I never use the home phone, and hardly use my mobile{no friends has its advantages:D}, but I love my history channel, tennis channel, national geo, and animal planet, plus all the fights. Seems every time I want to watch something the sh#t won't work:mad:
At least I don't have neighbors:)
Re: country living sucks sometimes
Yes, come a slight rain and no TV for you (unless you've got plenty of movies to watch).
However, one good thing about satellite is the instant TV guide. Not sure if it's different over there, but over here in south Georgia, you can easily check to see what shows are coming on, plus you can see information about which show/episode, etc. is coming on. And you can do it while keeping it on one channel! Whereas in town you have to turn it to a boring lame ass TV guide channel. It always scrolls so slow, so you get bored and have to entertain yourself by doing something to wait for it to get to the channel you want to view, but then you lose track of time and by the time you turn it there again, it's went by, so you have to start all over again. Not to mention the shitty ass music it plays.

Re: country living sucks sometimes
Legion,I think you should have your Dish readjusted,we almost never lose signal for more then a minute
Re: country living sucks sometimes
That could be it, if our dish gets moved somehow, it f's everything up and I gotta go up on the roof to adjust it....it sucks in the city too man. Dont go there....there is no option for just plain cable connection where I am....I know...

Yeah, we've had it readjusted several times. It may have to do with we live in a very open space and we get very high winds out here. Though sometimes it just pours rain with no winds and it will go completely out for hours. I don't know the details of these things, it's just annoying. Especially when it's barely raining and hardly any clouds and it goes on and off.

Id actually have the thing moved,it might have been the easiest place for them to put it at first, they have a signal reader when they place, but it might not be the most consistent.
Call in with an actual complaint,be polite and you'll get decent service, allmost all of Dish Networks call centers are in the US,and they ride the phone jockey's hard for conflict resolution.
Call it in bro, they'll move it

I'll call them tomorrow and see what they can do. Thanks much. My patience with anything mechanical or technical is challenged to say the least:-\

The top 3 best parts of country livin' for me...
1. Outdoor sex
2. Fiesta version party. You can have a full live orchestra band or throw out a rage party and be as loud as you want and no one fukks with you. ;D
3. Shoot cans in my backyard.

I'm with you with the light pollution thing.

I'm a city boy.
I need sirens, traffic, airplanes, helicopters, yells and the occasional gun shot to make feel at home.
