Manny Pacquiao...A little too big for his boots?
I love Manny and I think hes an amazing fighter. Hes one of my favourite at this momment in time. David Diaz who is a natural lightweight is fighting him this weekend as you all know. I just think that if Manny really cant push this guy and swarm him like he usually does in fights where can he go after this win? Ricky Hatton would certainly be out of the question, any other natural lightweight will also be out of the question. Ive got a feeling that this fight is going to go the distance. Its going to be a hard 12 rounds for Manny but he cant see it coming. Maybe im wrong here but I just feel that he belongs at 130.
For me 130 is where Manny Pacquiao will define his record; Juan Guzman, Edwin Valero, Juan Manuel Marquez, Robert Guerrero, Steve Luevano and you never know Chris John. These fights I feel well be for the better of his career instead of chasing fights like Ricky Hatton. I loved it when Manny Pacquiao use to go into these fights like his whole life and country pride was on the line. Im not saying hes not like that anymore but I just feel that hes gone a bit too much superstar, maybe its just my opinion on him but when he won the second Morales fight I just feel like a bit of his overall desire has gone a bit. Thats why I dont see sense in the Ricky Hatton showdown. I really want him to get back to 130 and define.
Thats just my feelings, but at the end of the day any fight hes in will be highly entertaining.

Yea I think it is okay for us to all be talking about who pac is fighting next, moving up and what makes sense and so on, but get worried when I see him doing that. Bit presumptous with a fight ahead of you.
But I did see him singing the Mexican national anthem just a few days ago, so maybe he is back in the zone. lol

I think he should carry his weight well at least at 135, 140 may be another story, but I will reserve final judgement until after this weekend. I feel fairly confident he will do well against Diaz though.
Re: Manny Pacquiao...A little too big for his boots?
We will find out next saturday. David Diaz love to bullrush his opponents. And Pac said he's gonna catch him coming in.
If he lose or fail to get a convincing win this weekend, then he should go back to 130.
I think Manny has better chin, faster hands, hits harder, and a little techically better than David.
Re: Manny Pacquiao...A little too big for his boots?
A shot to bits Morales beat Diaz (IMO), and decked him to boot.
He's too easy to hit. Even if Pacs power is slightly diminished the speed wont be far off.
Pac will batter him something chronic.
Re: Manny Pacquiao...A little too big for his boots?
The mania ice will ice david coming in, plus pac is an underrated counter puncher. In the jmm rematch ironically pac landed the more devestating counter punch.
I think pac will be more comfortable at 135, he does not have to lose the extra pounds. this way he can reserve and preserve energy. Unlike draining then gaining. We'll see though, but through pacs career he hasnt so far look bad in his first fight in a new/higher division. This Fight should be interesting.

I agree.

Ive seen recent pics of Pac and thought "god you are looking old". He needs to strike while the iron is still hot. He needs to stayaway from 140 though. Hatton will kill him.

I think Diaz will be more the attacker on this one. And Pac will be the counter puncher.

"I think that my speed and my footwork will be the key to the fight," he (Pacquiao) predicted. "I think my power will still be there, but the key to my fight is my speed. Also, getting out of the way, because he is going to come at me, he is going to smother me. He likes to fight coming forward, so I have to counter him."
Difinitely the "Manila Ice" will play a big role.

i think this fight really is going to be a very tough one for Manny. Not his hardest but it has the potential to be very tough. I agree we can only pass judgement till after the fight, but I just hope Manny see's that the money and legacy IMO is at 130, not 140.
Re: Manny Pacquiao...A little too big for his boots?
Pacquiao will batter Diaz no question, Pacquiao even though he is an aggressive fighter has some good boxing skills, and like Rains already pointed out is an underrated counter puncher, plus he has a lot more in his arsenal than the old version of Pacquiao jab, jab, straight left. Pacquiao has got some weaknesses that a good boxer can take advantage of but an aggressive brawler with no defense and no real skills, isn't going to trouble Pacquiao at all. Diaz isn't gonna know what has his him come Saturday night.

I think anyone who expects this to be a hard fight for PAc just hasn't seen Diaz fight Morales, or says so to make it seem like a signifigant victory when Pac wins. David Diaz is out of his league here.
Re: Manny Pacquiao...A little too big for his boots?
When you pound for pound number one you're allowed to be a little bit overconfident going into fights. I think he'll fight Hatton and risk a loss because of the money the fight would make.
Re: Manny Pacquiao...A little too big for his boots?
If this is PAC's last great win in his career, I will be at peace already. He has done enough for a hall of fame career. Getting his 4th belt in this 4th division is an all time great stat IMO.
