Pac vs ODLH: Pac declines offer
Both have agreed to meet at 147 lbs (or less) during the official weighin
8 oz gloves will be used
The clash being penciled for the 17,000-seat MGM Grand.
As per Fightnews.com
It also noted that Pac will officially sign/decline to sign the final contract tomorrow.
In the event the De La Hoya fight doesn't happen, Arum will pit Pacquiao against Humberto Soto of Mexico on Nov. 1 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.(fightnews.com)
Update: Fightnews has reported that Pac has declined Goldenboy's 70/30 offer, and will begin negotiations with Soto. Pac had demanded a 60/40 split with Oscar taking the lion share.
Here is a comment from Dan Rafael of ESPN.COM/Boxing about the offer:
"Pacquiao and promoter Bob Arum certainly are asking for a huge piece of the pie in the negotiations for the fight with De La Hoya, but, hopefully, they won't get too greedy and kill the fight. Yes, Pacquiao deserves his fair share, but De La Hoya is still the A-side of the equation and whatever Pacquiao earns -- at least $10 million to $15 million -- would be (by far) the biggest purse of his life."

If it's not signed nothing has been agreed on.

No go for Pacman-Oscar fight!
Wednesday, August 13 2008
By Nick Giongco
Manny Pacquiao has decided to stay at lightweight and defend his WBC 135-lb crown after turning down an offer by Golden Boy Promotions (GBP) for a Dec. 6 fight in Las Vegas, lawyer Franklin Gacal said in a statement released early Thursday morning. "I have been informed that Oscar De La Hoya is firm with the 70-30 revenue sharing and won't budge in to the 60-40 split we have counter-offered. I find the offer of GBP unconscionable hence unacceptable. It would have been an honor to fight De La Hoya on his last fight capping a very illustrious boxing career but under the circumstances, the option left is to move on. I have already made specific instructions to my lawyer to start negotiating with Bob Arum for my next fight with any possible opponent at 135 lbs," said Pacquiao. Gacal said what Pacquiao wanted was a fair share of the mega fight and apparently, Oscar De La Hoya is making an offer that he knows is unacceptable," Gacal told fightnews.com.It is certain that Pacquiao will face Humberto Soto of Mexico sometime in November in Las Vegas.
Re: PAC vs ODLH A NO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pac-Soto is a MUCH better fight anyways.
Re: PAC vs ODLH A NO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just watched some of Soto's fights and he is kinda reminiscent of a smaller Margarito with finer skills. Still worries me but at least this time I could sleep better:)
Re: PAC vs ODLH A NO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great news. Thanx for that. Pac better not sleep on Soto because he could end up looking up at the lights.
Re: PAC vs ODLH A NO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is great news. C'mon Soto!!!! I still want to see a rematch with Francisco Lorenzo so Soto can beat him senseless; but this will be a good $$$ opportunity for Humberto.
Re: PAC vs ODLH A NO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, that leaves Margo and DLH hopefully
Re: PAC vs ODLH A NO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh well, so much for hype.
time for Pac - Soto ;D
Re: PAC vs ODLH A NO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sweet now can we stop with the Roach/PAC master plans, nothing works for people that plan farther than one fight out.
plan # 1 PAC will get three titles in three weightclasses in one year. Well guess what the 140 lb. title holders got booked.
plan # 2 PAC will fight ODLH if he loses he fights Hatton, if he wins PBF comes out of retirement to fight. Guess What ODLH doesn't think that PAC is worth what ya'll do.
just focus on making one fight, make the best fight and let move on, don't try to plan a legacy, the legacy comes AFTER you retire, not before.
PAC/Soto - now we're talkin should be exciting reasonable match, PAC is the favorite, but it's a reasonable fight.
ODLH/Winky/Cotto/Margarito - I'll take any of those as a reasonable closer to the career.
Re: PAC vs ODLH A NO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Darn it! It was such a big hype *sigh*. Now what? Another Mexican (Soto) going down vs Pac :(.
Re: Pac vs ODLH: Pac declines offer
Not surprised that Pac punked out.

Maybe outboxed but not goingdown. Soto got hit by a Juarez powershot and walked thru them. I'm still nervous for PAC.

Bugger Reafael, fact is, draw or not, Pac holds the cards cos he ain't desperate for an opponent.
