Who is going to be Americas next boxing superstar?
Apart from Pavlik America does not seem to have any up and coming stars to take the place of De La Hoya,Mosely and Mayweather who are gone or going to be gone soon.:-\
So can any of our friends from across the pond inform us of Americas next superstars.;D
Re: Who is going to be Americas next boxing superstar?
I have big hopes for James Kirkland; I like the way he is coming along. Superstar? Who knows....but I'm hoping.
The Peterson brothers seemed on par for great things, but they are starting to bore me. I'm hoping to see some step up in competition soon; I think they have the potential to become stars.

Yeah I was gonna say Berto . He reminds me of a cross between Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather . I think he will be flying the flag for the States for the next 5 years in Floyds absence.

Rau'Shee Warren? Demetrius Andrade? Gary Russell Jr., Garry Russell III, Wilder, and the list goes on. Don't let the olympics fool you both Andrade and Warren were world champions in 2007,and they got screwed by nature of the olympic competition this year.

Lot's of potentials out there...
Berto, Gamboa, Mares, Dirrell, Cloud, Ward, Angulo, JuanMa.

From what I've seen i'd say Cloud and Berto excite me most.

Warren looked good and I think his own corner screwed him at the games there wasn't exactly a sense or urgency in there in that last round when he was one point down:confused:

Andre Berto no doubt. I also am a fan of Timothy Bradley. A lot of people ain't sold on him though, Bradley is a good fighter IMO.

Anyways, that's my pick I think he can endear himself to the media and he has the Olympic pedigree. But who knows, I thought Jermain Taylor would be the biggest star in boxing by this time too. And he has a pretty big following from the Jordan crowd too as he is part of Team Jordan, he gets a lot of play there which can mean quite a bit as he'll likely be one of the only boxers with his own shoe. Zab had light up shoes if I remember correctly ;D
Plenty of guys I like, the Petersons probably get more press then any of the young crop because of their story and just how good they are. I mean just soooo good, I think they will be stars for a long time to come.
Re: Who is going to be Americas next boxing superstar?
I can see Berto having the huge Push behind him as far as promotion and TV friendly appeal. So many different elements go into attaining the 'Super star' headline,Charisma, style,Good back story, management & promotion team, etc.I think he will be must see TV but Imo defiantly has a long way to go before actually realizing superstardom, as opposed to being pushed as a superstar. That goes for everyone really. If that makes sense :-X
