<-- The Original Clown Prince of boxing -->
Finally a highlight video on Jorge Paez.
The 1st fight I ever attended was a Paez fight in 1986 when I was a kid growing he was one of my idols in boxing. Had a chance to meet him as kid also and see his families circus perform at my school.
I know a lot of people have seen very limited footage of him so maybe theres new stuff on here.
I know that if Paez would have applied himself more to the sport and would have dedicated himself 100% to the sport he would have been something special. He had tremendous skills and ability, his reflexes were insane.
His 1st fight vs. Grove was one of the best comebacks in history IMO. Being down on points and decking Grove to win a decision in the 15th round...
Here he is The Clown Prince of Boxing :jester:

that was a strange highlight vid lol
Re: <-- The Original Clown Prince of boxing -->
Has to be one of the most strangest entertaining fighters I watched growing up but man was he fun to watch, you never knew what he would do next. He was always getting away with things only because the refs had never seen anything like him nor had his opponents ;D I was hoping that his son would have been just as entertaining as his father but it did not turn out that way. Paez Sr makes Malignaggi and Price NAZ seem normal by comparison ;D It's too bad that more videos of Paez Sr., are not available  Thanks for the post.

I think Paez fought pretty good vs Whitaker. Have you seen that one CutMeMick? Lots of action:cool:.

I agree whe Paez fought the people watched...
Before there was Eubank, before Naz, before Augustus there was Paez.
His son has similar style but not as whacky and Clownish as his pops.
One of my fav. things that Paez did in fights was he would wind up his right hand I mean literally wind it up and BAM! he'd launch forward and hit you with a left hook. Fucken classic or when he would pretend to be hurt and BAM! throw a right hand.

I think he did much better then people give him credit for. I was able to tag Pernell and he actually had a sequence I forget which round where he made Pernell miss like 3 or times with his waist movement.

Wow, he employed poo play? It's a shame I missed him.
Re: <-- The Original Clown Prince of boxing -->
I used to love watching him fight as a kid.;D
Never a dull moment unlike that other so called showman Camacho.
Re: <-- The Original Clown Prince of boxing -->
Sick ass vid Mick, did you put it together? Great footage. Egyption Lover's Egypt Egypt track makes it freakin chingon. It hits home & brings back memories of the late 80's and early 90's boxing fights down in Mexicali's La Calafia 'plaza de toros', nice yo. Dayum Maromero vs. Kelvin Grove back in the day, maybe like 20 years ago, when was this fight?. I'll forward the vid to my gente down in the imperial valley, SD, and up here in L.A.
Re: <-- The Original Clown Prince of boxing -->
I used to love watching this guy fight - underated exciting fighter and I always love the guys that showboat and can back it up.
The video is no longer available - can you post it again cos I'd love to watch it....
Re: <-- The Original Clown Prince of boxing -->
I remember Paez coming to Ft Worth to headline a card , he was on the downside of his career then.
The official explanation was he injured his hand on a sparring partners elbow. The rumor was he was in a fight in a bar on the northside, threw a punch missed the guy hit a stucco wall lol
Even tho he couldnt fight he turned up in the ring dressed as a christmas tree complete with flashing lights. Spoke to the crowd did a couple of back flips everybody loved him
Re: <-- The Original Clown Prince of boxing -->
How come the video is no longer available?
Re: <-- The Original Clown Prince of boxing -->
Unfortunately the guy has the video set on private I'll see what I can do.
(I knew I should have Saved It to my PC last night. Damn! It!! )
Re: <-- The Original Clown Prince of boxing -->
Missed the vid....Paez was an original and while the theatrics and showmanship was at the front,he was far more than a flashy side show..........He could fight in there, great hand speed, and an uncanny type of upper body movement, head feints.
Have to admit,Hated him early on.I just saw the flair and exagerated ring attire and lost sight of solid skills.I do think Dorsey beat him in 1st one, pressure and activity if anything.Strikes me as one of those "where were u when......." fighters.
Re: <-- The Original Clown Prince of boxing -->
Jorge Paez was classic. His son is a bum

I don't think so Pernell Whitaker did give Jorge Paez a bit of a beating in the later rounds, did you see how bad that cut was ? Paez was competitive in some rounds, but overall he lost a wide UD not close at all scoring wise IMO.
