Bika vs Manfredo November 13th on Versus

This was a tidbit in Dan Rafael's Notebook on ESPN.com today.

• After first-season "Contender" star Peter Manfredo Jr. (31-5, 16 KOs) knocked out third-season participant Donny McCrary in the second round Aug. 22, he called out third-season tournament winner Sakio Bika (26-3-2, 16 KOs). Manfredo is getting his wish. In his hometown of Providence, R.I., Manfredo is slated to face Bika in a super middleweight fight Nov. 13 on Versus, the network that picked up the fourth season of "The Contender." Two other notable fights are also in the works: Jaidon Codrington (18-2, 14 KOs), who hasn't fought since Bika stopped him in the November finale, against New Zealand's Daniel McKinnon (12-3-1, 6 KOs), and ex-super middleweight titleholder Anthony Mundine (33-3, 23 KOs) of Australia in his U.S. debut against former "Contender" participant Miguel Espino (19-2-1, 8 KOs). "That's the card we're trying to finalize," said Tournament of Contenders promoter Jeff Wald, who is working on the show with co-promoter Jimmy Burchfield. "We're excited about this card and our new home on Versus," Wald said.


This would be a decent card, if they pull it off.

Wow that would be a good card. Cant see Mundine fighting in the US but if he does it would be good even if it is against another c level fighter. I would have liked to see Mundine v Bika or Manfredo cos even tho he is a twat he is far better than both, and a win against one of those guys would raise his name in the US. Miguel Espino will not!


I think Bika is too strong for Manfredo but Peter seems to be going ok recently so is not without a chance.

The one thing Manfredo has, is that the fight is in Providence, and that's the only place he seems to be able to put up a good fight.

Anywhere else, he chokes. :p

So, if Manfredo has any chance to beat Bika, it would be in his back yard.

It shows how mismanaged Mundines career is that he might be fighting on an undercard to a main event that features two guys who he'd toy with and beat easily. Dickhead.

yea i think bika will win the fight its pretty interesting since they both got the shit SLAPPED out of them by calzaghe:rolleyes:

Bika actually did not too bad v Calzaghe, one of Joe's tougher fights. Bute beat Bika a lot more convincingly than Joe.

I hope Manfredo wins, I really like that guy as a fighter.

Thats right, he gave Joe fits for almost the whole fight, it's since that fight Ive been quite a fan of him.

If Manfredo fights at his best it should be a good fight while it lasts, I see a late stoppage for Bika.

Glad to see he got a fight at last he's one tough sob I think he'll break Manfredo and stop him late on in the fight as well.

I think Bika butts his way to victory lol. Just too tough for Manfredo IMO.

There is no chance Mundine would toy with Bika. Even Calzaghe couldn't "toy" with Bika and Mundine isn't half the fighter Calzaghe is. Bika is tough customer and he would give Mundine all he could handle. Mundine might well win, but he would be in for a tough fight.

This might be the last hurrah for Manfredo. His tendency to get lazy and lay on the inside will play right into Bika's hands. If Manfredo boxes from the outside like he did in the first half of the Lacy fight, he'll give himself a chance, but it seems like every time things get scary for him, he falls back into bad habits. Manfredo is actually a much more skilled boxer than Bika, but Bika is stronger, bigger, and much tougher.

Who wins i like both fighters i think this is 50/50 what do you guys think?

I think Manfredo crumbles under the pressure Bika puts on him. Bika by UD. It's in Manfredo's hometown though, where he seems to be at his best, so he might pull it out, maybe with the help of some hometown judging.
