Who at Super Bantamweight can handle his power ? Daniel Ponce De Leon had a very good chin and he didn't last a round. Honestly i think this guy is gonna be great, he has the power of Wilfredo Gomez. And seems to have good boxing skills like Wilfredo Gomez did.

sanchez is a lot more busier puncher than marquez. was thinking who would be the salvador sanchez to lopez if he does become the next gomez. lol
Re: Is Juan Manuel Lopez The Next Wilfredo Gomez ?
i think its too early to compare. maybe after a couple more fights we might be able to compare some. Maybe the fight with Batista on the Oscar/Pac fight will happen. good entertaining fight that will be.
Re: Is Juan Manuel Lopez The Next Wilfredo Gomez ?
It is early to say but fuck me, he is looking very special so far.
Re: Is Juan Manuel Lopez The Next Wilfredo Gomez ?
Lopez is Lopez , meaning he can build his own future in history , lets not get to carried away , lets follow him and judge him in maybe 6 years time.
but he looks 1 hell of a fighter .
Re: Is Juan Manuel Lopez The Next Wilfredo Gomez ?
I know its too early boys but im willing to put myself on the line here, and make that prediction. I really think Lopez will be special and so will Abner Mares.

Wa-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y too early for this argument. Gomez is an alltime legend, with one of the best KO percentages of all time, who faced the best in his division in his time. He also became famous for his killer instinct in the ring.
Juanma is good... scratch... great, but give him time. Legend status does not come overnight.

I think people are misunderstanding what im saying, im not saying he is anywhere near the great Wilfredo Gomez yet. But i think in a few years he could be up there with Wilfredo Gomez, as one of the best Super Bantamweight's of all time.
He has Wilfredo Gomez's power/speed and like i said, he is also a good boxer like Wilfredo Gomez was. If he doesn't make it you can all bump this thread, and let me have it. But like i said im willing to make that prediction, i think he is special.
Re: Is Juan Manuel Lopez The Next Wilfredo Gomez ?
ICB your enthusiasm and train of thought which tries to pin an old fighter to a new makes me smile. :)
Because despite them both having solid power JuanMa still has not even done one fourth of what Wilfredo did in his career.
But again I like your enthusiasm for trying to pin this down.
If it's one thing that just does my head in is when young fighters are compared to all time greats. Especially ones that are just starting off.
Ramon Gonzalez - Alexis
JuanMa - Gomez
Bojado - JCC
Margarito - Bennie
Berto - Some people say RJJ others say PBF
Pascal - RJJ
Pavlik - Monzon
The list is endless... But to each it's own. If you think he's the next "Bazooka" then that's what you think.
I just think people are quick to jump on a fighter and label them the next "_____________" Insert name.
When the young fighters haven't really been tested all around.

Well in a few years we can bump this thread and we will see if im right, like i said im willing to make that bold statement because i think he is special.
Re: Is Juan Manuel Lopez The Next Wilfredo Gomez ?
Well, it is early days yet but his last two outings have been outstanding, i'm still getting over the Ponce De Leon KO! Lopez is very impressive and i don't see any challengers out there who will stop him in the next two years at least! The problem is we so little of him in his fights because he keeps knocking everyone out in the first round! It's hard to make a judgement call on him, a lot of people here thought he would lose to Ponce De Leon so where does his next challenge come from?I think he will reign supreme at Featherweight too!
