Ha Ha Chavez Jr. a flake!
I'd just like to say one thing to all of those who fell for the hype and went out and actually paid to watch this crap, shame on you!!! I've been arguing since the beginning of Jr's career that he doesnt have what it takes, and last night he proved me RIGHT. So for all of you dreamers, wake up and smell the coffee. Now the lame ass Bob Arum has the balls to say one of his next opponents could be DLH or Pacquiao!!! WTF, give us some fuckin respect Arum. How the hell can he even justify a challenge of that quality when Jr. can't even look good against an unknown fighter. If he is really so good then why doesn't Arum call out Kirkland, Paul Williams, Alfredo Angulo, or even the bum Sergio Mora will tear him a new ass ha ha ha! Even Daddy Sr. looked pissed off at Jr's performance.http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingfor...cons/icon8.gif
Re: Ha Ha Chavez Jr. a flake!
De La Hoya, if he chooses to continue to fight, should fight him in TJ at 154. Surely a well fed and strong, shot Oscar would still beat this kid. Plus, I think Oscar would have the people on his side at the end of the day, if Oscar won he would win back a lot of fans imo.
Re: Ha Ha Chavez Jr. a flake!
Hi Scraptime,
I hear what you are saying but I have ambivalent feelings about the fight. I agree in that if he has world title ambitions he should be looking to make a mark on fighters of this calibre and should not be engaging in competitive life or death struggles with them. There is the expectation that he should be able to either stop them with Chavez snr like blows or at least outbox them and take them to school. I feel his defence is too poor and I also feel that he does not make good use of his natural height and reach. He could do with having a solid jab and I personally would have him schooled along the lines of Alexis Arguello; solid jabs and straight rights and with the toughness and willingness to engage close up with that Chavez patented left hook to the body.
On a plus note I admired his general toughness and the combination body work. That left hook to the body was working well and Junior delivered it at times with grace and speed; occasionaly it brought back memories of his father.
I feel that Chavez Snr was disappointed in this performace, judging by his body language at ringside I felt that there were times when he was trying to tell Junior how to punch. Junior does not yet have the punch variety and importantly is not playing to his strengths. He is trying to emulate his father too closely and I feel that oneday he will come a cropper. He is not anywhere as good as his illustrious father but if managed and developed carefully could maybe win one of the world titles. He needs to change his style and he needs to speed things up. Speed, defence and a good working jab would be the tools that I would focus on; I hope that these are areas that they focus on.
I don't think that he is a flake I just do not think that he is anywhere ready for the top fighters in the division yet.

HA!!
That's what you get when you have the "World's Most Coddled Boxer Ever", being hand-held through a totally artificial and meaningless undefeated record, just 'cause he's JCC's son. The hell with him!! His record don't mean shit to me, and that's been my position since Day One. Can't wait till a REAL fighter rips his baby head off.
Re: Ha Ha Chavez Jr. a flake!
Chavez jr. ought to try someone like Verno Phillips next.
I think 40 year old Phillips would give him a boxing lesson though.
Specially judgin by what you guys are sayin about his last performance.

Agree 100% I would love to see Kirkland fight him and end the fight in about 30 seconds. It would be a nice reality check for him and his fans and for the people that think he's "great" because of his undefeated record and he is the son of a great fighter.

Chavez Jr didn't look all that great, but hell neither did Kirkland against Julio, Forrest and that "bum" Mora both would take away Kirkland's 0 as well, it would be circling and landing that straight right on James Kirkland's chin all night
Re: Ha Ha Chavez Jr. a flake!
How about Jr. getting his worst beating from a midget?? That would be priceless... Just like the worst beating this midget gave to Hoya...

Well Arum just announced that Jr. could possibly fight this midget this year...
Jr. vs. "This Midget" at Aztec Stadium in Mexico City will be a huge event fight...

In boxing's pecking order, how does fukking Jr. rate a fight with Pacquiao? He's got to fight some live bodies first.

If you look at it from Jr.'s side he's not deserving for this shot but from the midget's (money) perspective, Jr. is an attractive alternate opponent... Mexican fans will support Jr. to the fullest... This fight is as attractive as "This Midget" vs. Cotto I think, moneywise...

Re: Ha Ha Chavez Jr. a flake!

Yeah your absolutley correct. He does not know how to take advantage of his long reach. Another negative is that he's too predictable because he always throws the same combos, never switches it up. He does throw the left to the body well but needs to finish with a few punches on top as well after that. He is much to slow in my opinion.

Saying Jr.'s not deserving is a severe understatement, SB. Jr. shouldn't even be caught standing next to a current p4p fighter, unless he's asking for an autograph.
;)
