3 Potential Heavyweight Clashes this Year - Who wins?
3 Potential Heavyweight Clashes this Year - Who wins?
Nikolay Valuev vs David Haye - 07 November 2009 (possibly in Germany)
Valuev and Haye have signed on the dotted line in a clash for the WBA Heavyweight Title held by Valuev.
Wladimir Klitschko vs Alexander Povetkin
Povetkin is going to be trained by Teddy Atlas and probably have a warm-up first but as Wlad's No.1 contender he is up next for the Ukrainian. Wlad is the IBF and WBO Champion.
Vitali Klitschko vs Chris Arreola
The elder Klitschko is in negotiations to make a voluntary defense against America's Heavyweight hope Arreola. Vitali's WBC belt will be on the line.
----------
All three fights are likely to take place this year and would certainly make it a Great Year for a division that has been in the doldrums.
Who wins?

Valuev vs Haye
I would love to see Valuev exposed properly so I'm goin with Haye.
W.Klitschko vs A.Povetkin
Klitschko jabs his way to victory (I'd like to see Chambers get the winner)
V.Klitschko vs C.Arreola
Klitschko jabs his way to victory also (Winner of this fight lined up to fight winner of Haye - Valuev)
Definately some good cards for the Heavy division for a change though, good times.

I really like David Haye, not fanboy level, but, your dead on the button. He has to win or he can forget it......

Wlad is IBF and WBO mate (and more importantly THE RING). You have put WBA, I think you know because you said Valuev is WBA, just thought I'd point it out though!
Anyway to the question, I think Haye could well KO Valuev, he has not been active though so it may take him a while and personally I think he should have had a few HW fights before going for a title.
Wlad - Povetkin could well be Wlads biggest test since regaining a portion of the title's against Byrd. But I see Wlad looking impressive (not exciting) and winning by late KO.
Vitali - Arreola. Vitali will crucify Arreola IMO. Arreola just doesn't look like he trains anywhere near hard enough to be in with the best of todays crop, and that is who he is facing!
Re: 3 Potential Heavyweight Clashes this Year - Who wins?
For some reason, Wlad is actually going to fight Chambers first, in December in Germany. Which is kind of funny because Povetkin has already beaten Chambers.
Re: 3 Potential Heavyweight Clashes this Year - Who wins?
Thanks RJJ Tszyu - amended my mistake. Rep to you as your the only 1 on about 6 different forums to have noticed.;D
Re: 3 Potential Heavyweight Clashes this Year - Who wins?
I'll say it like this to show you what chance I think these fighters have:
Valuev vs Haye (2.5:1, Haye)
W.Klitschko vs A.Povetkin (Klit 1.5:1)
V.Klitschko vs C.Arreola (Klit 2.25:1)
Re: 3 Potential Heavyweight Clashes this Year - Who wins?
Valuev by a 1st round KO
Klitschko by KO
Klitschko by KO

Ah shades of the old Jim Braddock,Joe Louis, Max Schmeling dilema.
Re: 3 Potential Heavyweight Clashes this Year - Who wins?
I'm going for Haye to fell the Giant, Povetkin to stop Wlad and Vitali to stop Arreola in a brawl.
So
Haye
Povetkin
Klitschko
I'm gonna stick with Povetkin as I have watched his career grow from the 1st steps and with Teddy Atlas training him and bringing something extra to his game, then, I see him upsetting the jab of Wlad and once that is gone there is nothing there-just a chin waiting to be broken.
I can see Arreola winning but the Walker fight sent alarm bells out - especially as Travis got Ko'd again recently (and early). Vitali is like an old champ, who while on the slide still does things good enough against the right opponents. Still Vitali for me but if Arreola is there after 6 rounds then it could be good night Klitschko.
As for young David?, well he is against "The Beast" a man that Vitali won't fight. Pick and move is the plan abit similar to what Chagaev did only Haye is throwing those H-Bombs. Timber big fella Timber.
Re: 3 Potential Heavyweight Clashes this Year - Who wins?
I think David Haye survives some scary moments and wins on points vs Valuev....IF they fight of course. I mean they should call this the Cluckfest in Budapest, because it has the Biggest Chickens in the division fighting in it...you have the LITTERAL Biggest Chicken in 7'0 325 pound Nicolay Valuev and the FIGURATIVE Biggest Chicken in David "Let's see how many Klitschko's I can duck" Haye....and of course ringside you'll have Mama Chicken John Ruiz a cluckin' and a swawkin' to get his shot at whoever wins this barnyard borefest
Wladimir will destroy Povetkin, Alex could get God to train him and there's no way he gets through 6 rounds with Wladimir! Povetkin has NEVER fought a big puncher, and let's recall that Eddie Chambers flat out swole his eye up with 1 sharp counter punch, imagine what is going to happen when the Steelhammer lands??? Right now I think Eddie Chambers IS the hardest puncher Povetkin has fought....look at his record, Chris Byrd, Taurus Sykes, Larry Donald, Jason Estrada....0 big punchers...well when they fight, you can go ahead and chalk up an 1 in that L column for Povetkin because reality and knuckles are going to sink into that noggin of Alex's real damn quick.
Vitali will cruise vs Arreola, he'll floor him twice early on 1-2 rounds and then stop him in 4-5 depending on how much punishment Cris wants to take. Arreola is a blood and guts fighter, but a slovenly half assed Jameel McCline hurt him a bit...I think Vitali will be able to pick his shots a bit better than Travis Walker, who turned out to be a tad chinny.
Eddie Chambers is going to fight Wladimir later on this year since he has earned a shot by beating Dimitrenko to be the #1 contender for the WBO belt. HOWEVER when asked by Brian Kenny "How do you plan on beating Wladimir?" Eddie said "The same way I beat Dimitrenko" :11fb8:....sorry Eddie, that's the wrong answer. If he goes in thinking Dimitrenko = Wladimir Klitschko he's dead wrong, sure the styles match up, but he's going to have to be a lot stronger to beat Wladimir. Don't get me wrong, he's in a better position to fight Wladimir having beaten Dimitrenko, because the styles are similar, but Eddie is going to have to have a horseshoe up his ass to beat Wladimir. Somehow Eddie is going to have to draw Wlad in and find a way to counter him, that will be VERY difficult given the fact that Wladimir is very cautious and he's going to bat Eddie around with that jab, before launching that right cross on him.

Valuev and Haye have signed on the dotted line in a clash for the WBA Heavyweight Title held by Valuev. I think the Big Ape pulls off the upset with a late knockout.
Wladimir Klitschko vs Alexander Povetkin
Povetkin is going to be trained by Teddy Atlas and probably have a warm-up first but as Wlad's No.1 contender he is up next for the Ukrainian. Wlad is the IBF and WBO Champion. Vlad hangs onto the title with another jab and grab title defense.
Vitali Klitschko vs Chris Arreola
The elder Klitschko is in negotiations to make a voluntary defense against America's Heavyweight hope Arreola. Vitali's WBC belt will be on the line. Vitali knocks out Arreola in 5.

Who wins?
It should be fun if all the matches actually happen with no injuries or complications of the spine.
Re: 3 Potential Heavyweight Clashes this Year - Who wins?
i don't care for Haye much, but for the sake of boxing, i hope he knocks out Valuev in dramatic fashion. Early.
the brothers K will dominate the division. period. not much room for discussion.
but, i would love to see Povetkin--Haye--Arreola--Chambers fights. i think Chambers is the weakest of that group, but Haye v. Arreola would probably be the best match up...
who would win that one?
