'Roids' - now it's Jeff Mayweather's turn - what's their problem?
Jeff Mayweather: 'Others have accused Pacquiao of cheating, but there's a bigger problem'
What's the matter with the Mayweathers. First it was Pretty Boy's old man. Now it's his uncle Jeff. Jeff's statement is particularly foul-ish way to make an accusations - making not so subtle insinuations intended to make it actually look as if Pac is really taking the stuff. For example, he says "It’s not about just Pacquiao it’s about the sport of boxing in whole.” So you're trying to insinuate that since lots of guys in boxing are supposedly taking them, so must be Pac...
"...it’s about the sport of boxing in whole..."
C'mon Jeff, who're you trying to fool. Just say it straight that you're after Pac and nobody else. I can't believe it - they're probably starting to believe that Pac could actually beat their boy, which I, the pacfan, don't, at least not yet. Why else would they go this far as to try descrediting the little man. Has the sports of boxing sunk so deep down the muck...

Probably not the best Mayweather to pick on. Jeff Mayweather is not one prone to throwing crap about like his brothers, & will frequently disagree with stuff Floyd Sr & Roger put out there.
He's a brutally honest guy, & due to issues with Roger & Floyd Jr, not one to do their dirty work for them or push an agenda for them. His arguments are a lot more sensible than Floyd Sr's drug-crazed ramblings & he's not direct about accusing Pac, but more the sport in general, & let's face it anyone who think RJJ did the jump to HW without any 'help' is extremely naive.

Jeff Mayweather is actually the most down to earth Mayweather of all and is a pretty smart guy.
I think when he say's "it's not about pacquiao" that's exactly what he means. He not putting trying to specifically target Pacquiao like Floyd Sr. was. I don't read it as him discrediting pacquiao at all. Actually I interpret it as he's trying to diffuse a bit of what Floyd Sr accused with no basis.
Re: 'Roids' - now it's Jeff Mayweather's turn - what's their problem?
He's a Mayweather of course he has to back up his brother. This would be more credible if it was from say Manny Steward or Angelo Dundee, someone that is well respected in the game that doesn't have any ties in one direction or another.
You know what they say "blood is thicker than water"
Re: 'Roids' - now it's Jeff Mayweather's turn - what's their problem?
Jeff's already got couple of defenders here so he probably isn't a bad fella. But don't forget, as generalbulldog says, he's still Floyd Senior's brother and Junior's uncle. Let me ask you, did you guys actually read the article? If you did and still maintain your views, then I respect your opinions. No problem. But make sure you read 'em first.
Re: 'Roids' - now it's Jeff Mayweather's turn - what's their problem?
Seems honest, down-to-earth and quite "unmayweatherish"

Yeah, I had actually read it before you posted. Even though I am a Mayweather fan, I can easily acknowledge that both his father & uncle Roger regularly spout complete & utter shit like they're a sewage pump. Jeff Mayweather on the other hand is quite a considered individual & isn't one to say things without thought. He doesn't accuse Pac, but says why people might think it, so I think he's been fair. He's more looking to say his brother isn't the only person thinking it (which is true, my own trainer suggested it after the Hatton fight, which we had an argument over), rather than support Floyd's accusation.

Exactly that is why I take it with a grain of salt.

In what way does he throw any accusation towards Manny? He speaks about the sport as a whole and makes it a point to mention "I do not know what Pacquiao is or is not putting in his system" and further goes on to say Sr is not the only one to say that Manny is on something possibly because he gets more and more shredded....
No where in that article does he state he believes personally Manny is on Roids and no where does he back up SR's accusations all he says is that it is funny how when other people say it its ignored but when his brother says it all of a sudden its big news.....
Sorry I dont see where Jeff accused Manny at all.....He just staed anything is possible and in a cut throat sport some guys are willing to do anything to get ahead......
As usual Jeff remains respectful and his words ones worth listening to because without proof he is not throwing mud at anyone

He didn't throw any accusations at Manny DIRECTLY, but in a more back handed way by stating,
Quote:
“To be honest there are a lot of other people who feel Pacquiao is taking something as well,” Jeff says without hesitation. “They are basing this on the fact that no other fighter has been able to rise so many weight classes while getting that ripped and muscular. Typically when you put on weight on your body you are going to get toned, not completely shredded like Pacquiao was when he fought Oscar De La Hoya. People are looking at Pacquiao’s physique and asking how is this possible?”
He's just doing it an indirect way by saying "other people" as in people in the fight game, be it boxers or trainers. The implication is there that Manny is on something.
People in this thread have stated that he's a good and standup guy, but he's still a Mayweather and it's his brother (Sr.) making the accusations. He's not going to go against blood.
Re: 'Roids' - now it's Jeff Mayweather's turn - what's their problem?
Well he's in a good position to say most of what he said - Whether he is a Mayweather or not.
He has been around the top guys of the sport so I think he can justify what he said in that article through his experience.
Manny fans gettin touchy again ;D

Check my posts, can't accuse me of being a Manny fan. And yeah it does matter that he's a Mayweather. He's not going against his flesh and blood and goes, "yeah my brother is out of line," "that's not right what my brother says,".
Blood is thicker than water, he's going to back up his brother. He didn't accuse Manny directly, but did it in a backdoor kind of way.

Please explain any of your statements because in no way whatsoever has he implicated Manny.....Shit I know a ton of other writers that believed Roy Jones was on steroids and a bunch that believed Holyfield was on Roids at one point in time but they did not write articles about it it was just personal opinion....
A back handed accusation does not include the comments
"I don't know what Pacquiao is or isnt on".......
And by the way your theory on Jeff not going against what his brother says is worth about as much as a $3 bill because he has gone against every member of the Mayweather family's statements at one point in time...
In fact he has thrown PBF under the bus on more then one occassion

Exactly, he's a guy who says what he thinks, even if unlike Roger & Big Floyd he doesn't feel the need to do it ALL THE TIME.
The reasoning behind why he feels there might be suspicions over Pac echo my own about Roy Jones & the way he managed to keep a similarly muscular & ripped physique all the way up to HW, yet when coming back down, all his gifts seem diminished. The difference between Roy & Manny is that there was at least some evidence linking RJJ in some way to BALCO. Does that mean he did it enough for me to say he's on steroids? No, not really, but I have my suspicions.
Re: 'Roids' - now it's Jeff Mayweather's turn - what's their problem?
Does everyone really REALLY not see that the Floyd's are trying to push buttons leading up into the next two mega-matches?
Floyd vs Pacquiao is round the corner...especially after Marquez blasts Mayweather into next year & Cotto hammers Pac the F out...I mean...that's the only fight either of them can get...outside of the immediate rematches...
That's the best of the two outcomes...atleast in my world.
Heh heh heh. :lickish:
One can only hope.
