You are right, it may not be the best example. But I wanted to illustrate an example of how two fighters following the RULES and weighing in at the agreed upon weight can create a completely outcome between fights.
I don't know what the "significant" fine was for Mayweather, but I get the impression he never planned to make the agreed 144 weight to begin with.
If Mayweather never even attempted the weight, we my see a drastically different outcome in the fight than if he did try to make 144.

This is completely different than Castillo-Corrales. Corrales was completely drained making the weight. Neither fighter is drained in this match. Mayweather came in about the same weight he always does at welterweight. And Marquez probably came in about where he felt most effective as a fighter instead of trying to gain the 2 more unnecessary pounds. PBF should have honored the 144 agreement. He could have made that weight without risking draining his body too much. But at least Marquez gets more money for it.
We will see what they weigh in at for the fight if they do that(which I hope they will force FLoyd to do) He usually doesn't put on weight for fights, I mean he put on 1 pound against Sharmba Mitchell from the weigh-in to the fight, he put on 0 pounds against Zab Judah from weigh-in to the fight, he put on 3 pounds against Baldomir, He allegedly only put on 3-4 pounds when he faced Hatton who was 5-6 pounds heavier than him come fight time.
yes that will be telling. If he just puts on a couple pounds then its pretty clear he didn't really attempt to make 144.
So it makes him a cunt, but why would it matter in terms of the actual fight? Either way he is a cunt, but if him and Marquez weigh the same in the ring, they weigh the same. This isn't Castillo-Corrales where both guys killed themselves trying to make weight. It doesn't excuse Floyd for being an ass, but unless he uses that size or even has that size advantage it shouldn't actually play a factor in the fight.
That fight went pretty much as expected as soon as the weights were revealed at the weigh in. Castillos left hook was the most dangerous punch Corrales came in contact with but Corrales will and power still made the fight intriguing and it was still a great fight while it lasted. I would have loved to have seen this be a trilogy, but that first fight was unbelievable. Both men really gave us their best.
