had mayweather-hatton had NOT of been reffed by cortez.....
ok guys i know we`ve been here 747,825,190 times already but what with floyds win on saturday ive once again been trawling through his career set and not for the 1st time cant stomach myself to watch past 5rounds of mayweather-hatton.
It was clear for all to see that floyds sharp overhand right f*cked hatton up everytime and that floyd had not just the speed but power advantage on ricky. But once again the fury of the performance of cortez who pretty much f*cked hattons entire gameplan is there for all to see.
Ricky is the only man to date to genuinely hurt floyd. Had the ropes had not been there in the 1st floyd would of dropped like a sack of shit and every SINGLE time hatton exploded inside landing flat on floyds chin, mayweather hugged hatton leading to joe warning hatton for what i can only presume as being "too over exhuberant"
Between 6-10 this wasnt the case, floyd whooped hatton all over the ring and showed what a class act he really is. But the annoyance is still there 2 years after it happened. Hattons gameplan WAS working a dream up until cortez decided to stamp it out and without doubt he was dominating a superior fighter with excellent tactics and footwork.
HAD lets say a kenny bayliss for instance of reffed the fight would floyd right now be sitting here with a record of 39-1?

Thats where I stopped reading
Re: had mayweather-hatton had NOT of been reffed by cortez.....
^Hahaha. True. I was about to point that out too.
No. Hatton never hurt Floyd. He knocked him off-balance and had the ropes not been there he would've fell down. And it would've been a legit knockdown, but it was because Floyd was off-balance.
It doesn't matter who reffed the fight because Hatton simply isn't/will never be good enough to beat Mayweather. It's as simple as that.
Re: had mayweather-hatton had NOT of been reffed by cortez.....
Nope. I didnt see PBF hurt 1 time in the fight either. Hatton didnt have anything for PBF and never will EVER. I think PBF also out landed him every round hatton hardly landed shit.
Re: had mayweather-hatton had NOT of been reffed by cortez.....
Yeah Joe ruined that fight it would have been much more entertaining if Hatton was allowed to just fight.
Re: had mayweather-hatton had NOT of been reffed by cortez.....
Hatton got schooled end of, he could fight Mayweather a million times, and unless there's a freak injury on Floyd, Hatton will lose a million times, only people to visibly hurt Floyd IMO are Clottey and Judah, and it wasn't anything out of this world
Re: had mayweather-hatton had NOT of been reffed by cortez.....
Here's my 2 yen on it. I understand you bringing this fight up now because it has gotten a lot of play lately.
Issue # 1 Ref: I believe that had Hatton been allowed to hold and hit, he would have got elbows in the face and forearms to the neck as a deterrent and as the fight wore on it would have had significant impact as far as both cuts and breathing go. PBF had a plan to deal with this specifically so I don't believe the fight would have ended any differently really.
Issue # 2 Hurting PBF: Watch round one again Hatton clearly knocked PBF off balance, as for him being hurt before. Augustus, Judah and Corley all hurt (only momentarily) PBF more than Hatton did at any point in that fight.
Issue # 3 Tactics: Overall the argument that Hatton had excellent tactics and footwork is flawed because Hatton did the exact same thing he does in every fight, tactics implies a plan B, an adjustment or a defined strategy unique to a certain situation. I remember thinking Hatton was doing well in the early rounds, but watching it back in Slow-mo you can clearly see PBF was getting the better of almost every round.

Hammer are you being serious mate??
Floyd took a few rounds to get to grips with the way Hatton fights then just took him to school on the inside and outside, Cortez was a cock in that fight but you could of had Rickys dad reffing it wouldnt of made a difference.
Re: had mayweather-hatton had NOT of been reffed by cortez.....
I think Ray Hatton could've reffed the fight and Ricky wuld still have lost. Floyd is just on a different level completley to Hatton :(
Re: had mayweather-hatton had NOT of been reffed by cortez.....
This excuse is 2 years old on why Hatton lost to May. Joe Cortez was the ref!
Other popular excuses used were that Hatton fought at welterweight and May used his elbows.
Re: had mayweather-hatton had NOT of been reffed by cortez.....
Nah,Cortez is always acting as if he's center stage on Big Brother and he may have stoped some natural flow, but he was not stopping Mayweathers left hook. That glove might as well of had GPS.
Re: had mayweather-hatton had NOT of been reffed by cortez.....
The truth is if it wasnt for the most biased ref display in modern history by Dave Parris in the Hatton-Tszyu fight then it would probably have been Kostya fighting PBF and not Ricky. How can anyone possibly think Cortez's refereeing display was worse than Parris's?
Hatton fans seem unable to accept that Ricky isnt allowed to hold, wrestle and low blow in every bout because whilst fighting in Britain he was allowed to everytime. Goof fighters adapt to the conditions of the fight, Ricky wasnt able to and got beat. When he finally met refs who stopped him wrestling he couldnt handle it and lost.

WTF lol, Hatton wasn't doing anything at the begining, you say he was landing on Floyd, I think you would have to be blind to see it that way, Hatton landed a few good jabs and a hook or two coming, but on the inside he was hitting shoudlers and elbows or even air, but not landing clean punches. Hatton definitely controlled the real estate, but Mayweather never contested that, he was countering Hatton with little shots off the ropes, and countering him big in the middle of the ring.
Besides when Kenny Bayless ref'ed Hatton-Pacquiao he was pulling apart quicker than Cortez was pulling apart Hatton and Mayweather.
In the entire fight Hatton maybe deserved one or two rounds for his overwhelming aggression, but he was getting beating in a competitive, but one sided fight.
The real question is if Hatton wasn't allowed to fight as cheap as he often did in Manchester what would have his record been?
