Will Pacquiao duck Mayweather?
I don't see how this fight is possible with Arum as Pacquiao's promoter.
It seems as if they didn't want a peice of Mayweather when he called Pacquiao out & offered Marquez one million to step aside, because they didn't even issue a statement.
I can't see how they would want the fight now that Mayweather dismantled the guy who gave Pacquiao the most fits in their 2 fights.
The general opinion is that Pacquiao would be outclassed over 12 rounds and i'm sure Arum doesn't want to see his cash cow take an L while having to split the profits with another promotional company.
Do you guys think Arum will let Pacquiao in the ring with Mayweather?
Re: Will Pacquiao duck Mayweather?
Well, even if Pac's team doesn't want to take the loss they have to take this fight if they beat Cotto. The demand would be too high and the ridiculous money it would bring makes this a must make fight.
Re: Will Pacquiao duck Mayweather?
Duck isn't the right word. That's like asking if Shane Mosley will duck Mikkel Kessler.
If Pacquiao beats Cotto they will definitely fight because of the money.
Re: Will Pacquiao duck Mayweather?
Mayweather never called out Pacquiao.
Mayweather would beat Pacquiao based purely on what he did to Marquez. Pacquiao will beat Mayweather based purely on what he did to De la Hoya. Catchweights, different styles.
They'll both duck each other until they both suffer notable defeats and their "pound for pound" status is questioned. Mayweather is ducking Mosely Mayweather Says Mosley Missed His Chance, Twice - Boxing News. If Pacquiao beats Cotto he will duck Mosely unless he agrees to pugilistic prostitution (catchweight). He knows he'll be fucked but hey! he's gettin' paid.
Valero claims that he is guaranteed a fight with Pacquiao unless Pacquiao retires Edwin Valero vs. Manny Pacquiao | Edwin Valero. Arum tried to get Soto vs. Valero on the Pacquiao vs. Cotto undercard but failed Edwin Valero denied a work visa, won't be on Cotto-Pacquiao undercard - Bad Left Hook.
I'm gonna make a prediction. If Pacquiao beats Cotto he and Mayweather will duck each other during negotiation using the purse split as an excuse. If Mosley beats Berto Mayweather will continue to duck him. A desperate Mosley will accept a catchweight offer by Pacquiao stipulating that the fight will be cancelled should Mosley fail to make weight (142). Pacquiao will beat a severely weight drained Mosley. Mayweather will fight Mosley. Pacquiao will then fight Valero in the Phillipines to garner support for his next election campaign, expose and KO Valero in the fifth round, retire and become a puppet of the corrupt political forces which riddle my ancestor's homeland.

That's very stream of conscious of you. Let's see if PAC can beat Cotto and how he looks in victory or defeat before judging future propositions.
Re: Will Pacquiao duck Mayweather?
This is one of those extremely hard to make fights
we all spent years calling for floyd-cotto but because of floyds heavyhanded bargaining it just never happened.
Floyd-mosley just makes so much sense because you can rest assured if either manny or cotto blow eachother out inside 5rounds mayweather isnt gonna want no part of that.
Arum has been a massive part of mannys success. He sees a big named fighter on the way down and throws his boy in. Cotto isnt the same man that fought sugar and zab. His reflexes have shortened and thats the reason this fight is happening!!
Re: Will Pacquiao duck Mayweather?
I don't think Pacquiao really has a say in his corner, I think he would fight Cotto or MOsley at 147, but his trainer and promoter wouldn't allow that. IMO Pacquiao would face Mayweather, the guy is fearless and loves to go to battle, but I think deep in Freddie Roach and Bob Arum's hearts they know that Manny would lose to Mayweather. Mayweather not only matches Pacquiao in speed, but he far surpasses him in skill. In retrospect I am not sure if Mayweather is actually scared to fight anyone if the right money is available, I think he is a pussy for caring so much about just money, but as long as money is there I think Floyd believes he can beat anyone in the sport relatively easily(and he could be right). So if Mosley faces Berto like it looks like will happen in early 2010, and if the winner of Cotto-Pacquiao gains a lot of publicity then MAyweather will likely face the winner of either contest.

I think the names are the wrong way round in the thread title ;)
Since when has Pac ducked anybody?

he took the fight with hatton because he saw flaws in ricky that werent there a few years back. The exact same thing has now happened with cotto
pac doesnt duck a challenge and never has. But his opponents are extremely well picked by arum
Had floyd of looked the slightest bit jagged towards the end of the marquez fight arum would already be making the calls right now preying pac gets through cotto so he can take out floyd
In light of floyds brilliance its just gonna be interesting if pac can find a way past cotto whether arum and roach will really put their money where their mouth is and stick pacquiao in with mayweather!!
Re: Will Pacquiao duck Mayweather?
Pac wont duck anyone. But i dont think Roach or Arum wants him to fight Mayweather.

This is nonsense! you act like Pacquiao and arum are scared little girls. Arum likes to see exciting fights (thats the reason he bashes floyd the way he does.) As far as Pacquiao being outclassed that is ignorance. Pacquiao is every bit as fast as Mayweather and he has a strong will to win! Marquez didnt take the weight change near as well as Manny and to say Mayweather beat Marquez easily so he will beat Pacquiao easily shows your novice. Styles make fights.
Re: Will Pacquiao duck Mayweather?
and if pac ducks opponents why in the hell did he fought jmm again? based on the first fight, pac knew jmm is a nightmare style wise. people might say well cause money can be made if they fought again. if thats the case pac does not duck anyone even if he and the team know they might lose.
Re: Will Pacquiao duck Mayweather?
pac duck
pac chicken
pac cow
pac horse
pac s*it
what the hell.. Cotto is around the corner and armed with two heavy fist that can knock anybody..
Re: Will Pacquiao duck Mayweather?
IF Pac beats Cotto and negotiations begin January of next year they will probably get finished and have the fight scheduled around the 2012 Olympics just in time to say the winner is ducking James Kirkland (who will be just getting out of prison).

Hatton didn't look flawed when he fought Paulie, I think PAcquiao's style was better suited against Hatton, and the version of Oscar that he faced. After seeing Mayweather-Marquez I have my doubts about where Oscar was in that fight with Pacquiao because his durability couldn't have been up there if he weighed less than Manny coming into the fight.
