Who's the best boxer in MMA?
During B.J. Penn's last fight Rogan talked about Freddie Roach saying that BJ had the best boxing skills in MMA.
So is it BJ? He's gotta be on the short list but if not him, who?
Not even so much who's the best striker exactly cause you have kicks, knees, elbows, etc., Just the boxing.
Re: Who's the best boxer in MMA?
Torres has good boxing skills.

Re: Who's the best boxer in MMA?
Yea ya certainly gotta have BJ high on the list, if not topping it.
Others to mention - Markus Davis -former pro boxer, great hand skills !
Frank Mir - in light of recent bouts over Big Nog and Kongo, he has certainly improved a great deal.
Anderson Silva - Got fantastic hand speed and accuracy - just ask Forrest Griffen.
Re: Who's the best boxer in MMA?
Nick Diaz has tremendous boxing
Frankie Edgar has improved his to an amazing level
BJ Penn has a great jab,
Re: Who's the best boxer in MMA?
I think you need to add little Nog into this list, a bronze medalist in the Pan American Games is enough justification if the destruction of Luiz Cane wasnt enough already.
Re: Who's the best boxer in MMA?
rampage jackson, rashad evans,
Re: Who's the best boxer in MMA?
HANDS DOWN Anderson strikes the best....sure other guys try to slug it out but Anderson knows what he's doing with his hands. That being said he's not a GREAT boxer but this is like asking "What boxer has the best grappling/kick defense"

Yeah, Anderson Silva is actually a decent boxer. But I still think Tyron Woodley has the best hands in MMA. He is wrestler first but he has very nice hands.

When I think of the best boxer in MMA, BJ Penn doesn't even come to mind. Perhaps it's because his greatest wins have always been submissions.
I'd say guys like Stephan Bonnar, Gregard Mousassi and a few others bring that thought to mind. There are many others that come to mind but those two stick out to me. Of course, Chuck Liddell has to be mentioned when the conversation is "boxers in MMA" just by his dominance in the cage with his hands from the past.
Re: Who's the best boxer in MMA?
I always thought Vitor Belfort had some good boxing skills, and his handspeed was lightning quick. If he learnt to not be so wild and be more technical, he could of been a pretty decent boxer IMO.
Re: Who's the best boxer in MMA?
ye belforts up there and suprise no one has mentioned arlovski
Re: Who's the best boxer in MMA?
Technically talking, Arlovski is incredible. Only problem is: he has no chin to back the technique :(
Re: Who's the best boxer in MMA?
I would say Anderson Silva. His hands are so fast for a Middleweight.

BJ keeps things standing these days though unless he hurts somebody and wants to take them down. His hands are why you see all these guys trying desperately trying to take him down. He's just too good striking. I think of him as one of the top boxing skills guys cause he just has good conventional boxing, keeps his hands up and jabs better than almost any other MMA guy. Plus he has a pretty tight compact straight right hand.
