Mundine does it again.....
Just don't know what to make of him these days. Due to fight "Deadly" Rob Medley at Jnr Middleweight he's fighting with the IBO and can't make the weight. He's really put people off here lately - yes even more than usual - to the point where previous fans such as myself are now feeling he is taking the fans for a ride to line his own wallet.
Mundine 'dogs' title fight - Boxing - Fox Sports
Switch all about Mundine: Medley - Boxing - Fox Sports
He needs to fight Daniel Geal again and stop fighting club fighters. No disrespect to Rob Medley as I have seen a number of his fights but there are way better fights out there than Rob, isn't there?
Re: Mundine does it again.....
Mundine has been taking the piss in every fight since the Green fight apart from the second Soliman fight.
More concerning - what's with Green and Mundine fighting for IBO belts and then acting like they have won world titles? Anything other than WBA, IBF or WBC = bullshit. WBO maybe, but it's a big maybe...
Mundine is a clown - you'd think he'd try and get close to 154 before he signs the contract. They should't pay him - but that won't happen since it's his people, his promotion, his terms.
Re: Mundine does it again.....
Mundine is a F**kin dispicable C**t, suprise suprise he backs out of a title fight. Even worse the fact that medley is another punter mundine isn't confident of beating. The fact that he gave up his belt not to fight Geal says it all in my opinion.
FUCK YOU MUNDINE YOUR A BLACKEYE OZ BOXING DOSN'T NEED.
Re: Mundine does it again.....
And he even had the gall to ask the IBO to have all local (NSW) judges and ref. He and his team must know that sanctioning bodies have their own rules about that. My opinion is that no one has bought the PPV and they are in damage control looking to whatever technical points they can use to shut down the event without looking like it was b/c no ones buying his snake oil anymore.
Re: Mundine does it again.....
I have refused to watch anything of his since the second Soliman fight because it flat out has not been competitive.
Thankfully the Australian public is getting wind of it.
I don't think pound for pound Green is anywhere near the fighter Mundine COULD be, but credit to Green - he's made good attempts to get Tarver out here, got RJJ out here and did his best to get Hopkins out here - YES they are all long in the tooth, but they are still a couple of streets better than the Argentinian cabbies Mundine fights...
Re: Mundine does it again.....
Yeah i agree. Once again no disrespect to Rob Medley but we shouldn't have to pay for that.
Re: Mundine does it again.....
It's interesting to note that Mundine's best performance and win was against Danny Green, yet it is Green who fights and beats RJJ and will soon fight Bernard Hopkins. Mundine has been appallingly handled.

Hopefully the start of a comeback for boxing in Australia is finally realising that what Mundine and associated promotional companies are trying to tell us is the pinacle of international title boxing, is actually a fraud.. Hopefully the further fight fans move from the crap Mundine is peddling, the closer the might get to discoving the wealth of great boxing that goes on around the world.... However it can easily go the other way and people just think Australian and for that matter, International boxing is just boring and valueless....
Which has always been the most infuriating part of Mundine's career for me, is that he had captured the attention of a lot of the public here, either for the right or wrong reasons, but did nothing with it.. He had talent, and could have put boxing back on the map as a sport that Australia is a contender in... But he has only drawn attention to his unwillingness to break Australian borders...
We just gotta pray and wait for the next Kostya...

Yeah my toughts exactly. He did bring a boxing revival to the Australian public, but as you say let it stagnate. It seems to me that Green and probably Darchinyan (to a lesser extent) have now captured the attention of the public and they are now just realising Mundine has not much to sell and are prepared to wait for something more substantial before opening their wallets.

I'm pretty sure Kostya's got his boy Timophey moving up the amatuer ranks...
Re: Mundine does it again.....
If anything Mundine needs a new promoter and team behind him. He beats Soliman and stops him and what happens? Nothing. No fights are made at 168 so he moves to 160, no fights are made at 160 so they move him to 154, he has to be one of the most mismanaged fighters in the history of boxing. He had better get some real promoters or he is gonna be another wasted potential if he hasn't gotten there yet.
Re: Mundine does it again.....
I've thought for some time now that Mundine should file that missing testicles report to the police.
Re: Mundine does it again.....
I think your all correct,
*he does have more potential than danny green
*they both need a wake up call if they think the IBO titles are world beating
*mundine is extreamly mismanaged
*mundine does fight punters (no offence intended to medley)
*aussie boxing needs someone to take world boxing by the scrot and dominate.
The sad thing is mundine did have the potential, he is now nothing more than an over the hill burnout with a bung eye (what kind of idiot licks a contact lense and puts it back in) that will never reach his potential because he lacks the one thing that is essential in boxing. HEART!
Silky with the skills but guttless, to take away medleys opportunity to win a belt (mabe his only ever shot at one) is not unexpected but still disapoiting.
Look foward too Mundine V Soliman 9, and mundine vs the punters on the contender.
He really gets my goat up, aussies are known for our heart and just spits in the face of that.
Re: Mundine does it again.....
Lets look at things another way - compare to Mundine to Michael Katsidis.
Katsidis has gone in tough for years, against hard opponents in their back yards - yet ask the Aussie man in the street who Michael Katsidis is and they scratch their heads.
And you can bet your arse that Mundine has made a shitload more coin than Katsidis has done over the course of their careers.
So - who has been mismanaged, Mundine or Katsidis? When Katsidis has to retire at 32 because of all the wars he's been in, or Mundine who can make $500,000 to beat someone with about as much boxing skill as I have up til the age of about 40?
I know what you guys mean about Mundine being poorly handled - but he's made an awful lot of money in his career and taken relatively little punishment - I'm pretty sure he doesn't go to bed at night worrying about what thw hardcore boxing fans on Saddo's have to say about him:-\
