Gavin Rees would be a good comback opponent for Hatton! what do you think???

Style wise it would be a good fight as Rees is a fighter who fights at 100 miles an hour from the first bell and is always in front of you.

Also he is a former world champ and would give HAtton a good fight if not quiet have enough to best him.

What do you think?

Whats the point of it though ? Ricky Hatton is clearly finished as an elite fighter, beating one of the worst title holders in modern day boxing, would prove nothing at all. And it shouldn't lead to anyother big fights either, as his health is a big concern to me.

If he wants to go out on a win, then i can understand that. And Gavin Rees would be an ok choice, because it would be entertaining. But as for a serious comeback to lead to other fights ? no way.

As you said Hatton is finnished at the top level and only plans to have 1 or 2 more fights anyway.

I think the 2nd fight will be Khan so the first fight does not need to be against a fighter that will lead to anything if you know what I mean.

I would love Hatton to have a brawl with Reese in front of his manchester fans then quit.:rolleyes:

I wish people would stop going about how Hatton's ability has diminished because he got Ko'd by Pacquiao.

It's like people think he went from being the greatest at 140 to being a guy who can't hang with the best at 140. If you keep him away from a slick fighter, he'll look pretty much as good as he always has done....

That said he performed well against Paulie who throws fast combo's in the fight before Pac, it was just a bad night against the P4P best in the world when he fought PacMan.

Exactly. People seem to forget how easily he outboxed Paulie, barely losing a round. That was was like 5 months before Manny, people have short memories.

Agreed no need for Hatton to attempt a comeback and beating Rees would more then likely give him a false sense of capability.....Not even sure if he would beat Rees and that might be even worse for him....

I can understand him wanting to close out his career with a win but I would not fault him for a walkover bout or two then hang it up...No need to put himself in danger

Yeah but to be fair, Paulie fought with one arm...for whatever reason. Plus i don't think Hatton respected Paulie's power. Not even slightly.

I cannot see any Casino's in Vegas being interested in showing Rees v Hatton, and from what one has heard Vegas is looking to be the venue for his bout.

I think Hatton is getting knocked a bit harshly these days, but then that is understandable considering he was out cold in only the second against Manny.

I'm not convinced that Hatton is done though, and think he might well have a bit left in the tank. As has been mentioned before, we all thought he looked great against Paulie and though the Lazcano fight is touted as a poor performance, Hatton did win almost all the rounds.

It's hard to conclude anything from the Pac fight as Hatton was in trouble from the off. He never got into it. I hope he picks a good opponent (not Gavin Rees) and I hope he looks impressive.

Half of me sais yes, half no, Gavin Rees should be fighting at 135 he has no place at 140 and above, I think he could be quite a force at lightweight if he knuckled down, trained hard and cut out the drinking. As for Ricky fighting Gavin, personally I wish Ricky would hang em up and concentrate on his own fighters but if he has to fight again, I am sure Mr Rees will give him all the trouble he needs for a few rounds in a very fan friendly fight. That's not really going to be much of a eye opener though, to how much left Ricky's got in the tank these days, which could be more or less than we all think.

It would do nothing for Hatton at all. I'm sure he would walk it but it really serves no purpose other than to go out with a win. But going out with a win is pretty pointless if you fight someone that 99.9% of people expect you to beat. It might make Hatton feel better for a while but when he looks back on his career it won't soothe the pain of the losses.

He should stay out.

Hatton hasn't been the same since Mayweather.. that's plain enough to see. Mentally, more than physically.. he was so fired up for the Mayweather fight, he was utterly convinced he was going to win. In contrast, when he went up against Pacquiao he spoke at times as if he was half expecting to lose, or wouldn't really mind losing.

That said, I still think he can hang with the best at 140 (providing the best doesn't include pac man from here on out) but I don't see him re-entering the p4p rankings. I wouldn't mind seeing him beat Juan Urango or maybe Devon Alexander, winning in spectacular KO fashion (possible against both guys if you ask me) and then facing off against Khan for the belt, providing he hasn't lost it or vacated it by then.

Rees would be a perfect easy local opponent for Hatton. It would give him confidence and set him up for Amir.
