When people make comments to you, expecting you to agree....
...with them, but you don't, but because you can't be arsed getting into anything you just politely smile.
Took a delivery today and the driver said to me....
"Just been listening to a talk show on the radio going on about Women wearing Burkas. It shouldn't be allowed should it? Of course the do-gooders will be ringing in saying they can wear what they want"
Before laughing and walking off.
Just an example, but how does everyone else react to this sort of situation, when it's a total stranger?
Re: When people make comments to you, expecting you to agree....
just smile and move along as quickly as you can
people who start such conversations with total strangers are fruitcakes in my experience
Re: When people make comments to you, expecting you to agree....
I someone is venting, I tend to listen... However the moment the ''ay'', ''init'' or ''d'ya na'a mean'' start attaching themsleves to the end of every sentence, I'm out of there.
Re: When people make comments to you, expecting you to agree....
Next time pull down your pants and stare at them. They'll leave you be.
Re: When people make comments to you, expecting you to agree....
I had a great one like this at the Pacquiao-Hatton fight. There was a Pinoy guy next to me who kept braying 'He's gonna fuck that white boy up man', 'Yeah, Manny gon' make that motherfuckin white boy his bitch' and other such variants and seemed to assume because I'm not white, I'd go 'Yeeeeaaahh, you da man dawwwg' and give him a high-five. After ignoring his hand, I politely informed him that if he didn't shut the fuck up, me and the two massive Canadian guys next to me would batter him in. He didn't seem to understand this, but his more sober friend did & did his part to make him shut his gobhole.
Although he was right about Manny & Ricky :-X
Re: When people make comments to you, expecting you to agree....
It is best to simply ignore the comments and pretend you did not hear them with no reaction. If they repeat it then simply tell them to STFU as your wife wears one.
Re: When people make comments to you, expecting you to agree....
I find as I get older I have less and less tolerance for allowing idiots to get away with the things they say. I would likely make a rude retort or two and then tell them to bugger off. Why should a delivery man be making conversation about sensitive issues? The guy is a twat, with no idea about what his job is.
Re: When people make comments to you, expecting you to agree....
If you argue with them, these types only have the mental capacity to be able to place you in the same category as the people they are hanging sh!t on.
I find simple questions to them is the funniest way to deal with them.
What do you personally find wrong with someone covering up their heads?
why? does it scare you?
So if we all walked around looking the same, wouldnt you find that boring?
How about Arabs and Indians do you feel that they shouldnt wear turbans?
If they cant answer, you stare at them until they do ,you never give in and talk first or answer for them.
(In sales those questions are called the "Hot potatoe"). whoever answers the leading question first, loses :cooldevil:.
(They eventually sell the product to themselves):cooldevil:

Was it a Pizza delivery?
Order again but this time answer the door with checkered tea towel wrapped around your head.
:bag: or a bag.
A Ninja out fit!
:fighting0040mf3: A Darth vader mask.
This could be fun.

Re: When people make comments to you, expecting you to agree....
You have to have a friend video his response and utube it for us all. :spongebob:
:smilie_whisper: Ask him if he wants to come kneel on the rug with you.
Re: When people make comments to you, expecting you to agree....
I've been on both sides of this. I remember I was a supervisor working for a laboratory. I had to call this insurance company in the South. I was yakking to a co-worker while I was on hold about chit'lins and how I used to eat them when I was a kid, but I didn't understand how anyone could eat them now. I know I said something about southern people liking them, but I can't even paraphrase now, but the guy came back on the line at some point and was listening to me. He asked, "Do you eat those?" and my mind raced as I tried to recall all of what I'd said to navigate my foot out of my mouth.

The perfect answer would have been "Toong dow wuk chung ma"!
(Cantonese for "get off my patch fuk wit")
