Basically Mayweather refuses to pay the sanctioning fees
So if he wins he doesn't get the belt, it becomes vacant or Shane gets to keep it...
I mean how tight is Foyd FFS? What kinda fees do the WBA impose?

Fair play I reckon, who cares if its for a belt or not?? It doesnt make any difference, its not as if wed ever get a unified champ with all the belts floating around now anyway.
Both fighters are big, do not need the title and at the end of their careers to care.
I applaud Floyd for this these fucking sanctioning fees are a joke. We don't need a meaningless belt to tell us this is a massive fight.
Yeah I'm in two minds about this also. On the one hand I think it's a cheek of Floyd to not pay them so that Shane can't win the title.
On the other hand I think it would be great for boxing if every fighter just refused to pay and got rid of all the belt organisations.
We could just create one organisation, a conglomerate of all within boxing to issue a single belt per weight class and fuck the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO right off.
who gives a shit that it's not for a World title, something more important is on the line, the Lineal Welterweight Championship
I'm sure floyd said a while back that he only wants to fight for the WBC title.
Barerra never paid sanctioning fees.
I agree with the above, 'the title' doesn't change this fight in the slightest.
I'm sure that Ring Magazine (owned by Golden Boy) will use this chance to add that "this fighter will be recognized by RING as the true and lineal welterweight champion." haha.
I like belts to a certain point, belts IMO identify who's at the top of their division and legitimizes certain fights. But once you've fought in multiple weight classes and you're a known star, belts should just be thrown away unless you're trying to win your first belt in that division. Floyd's already won the WBC Welterweight title and Shane has won a belt multiple titles at 147, it's pointless for a belt to be on the line. Same goes for any of the big stars.
Who gives a crap about a belt when he can barley hold all the one's he has now to even take a picture with them. I wouldn't pay those retarded fee's either. The way these things are set up there are guys with belts who i've even never heard of. Makes me laugh everytime a new name is popped up before hbo fights of guys they have to mention just because they weasled their way into one.

I couldn't even tell you who has which belt in almost every division but know who the main men are
its the casual boxing fan where the problem lies - try explaining to them how the best fighters in a division are not actually the world champion.
I have enough grief at work from a couple of guys who slag the sport off for the confusing multiple champion system as it is :-\
Titles should not dictate fighters careers, which is exactly what they do. Total leeches.
Barrera started this trend of fighters being bigger than belts and then others started doing it too.
Floyds just tight though
