Is berto up next for mayweather...
FIGHTHYPE \\ FROM PILLAR TO POST: IS ANDRE BERTO UP NEXT FOR MAYWEATHER?
I hope not, because will the be undoing of a young champ who stands to inherit the division once floyd is done..he should just wait until the floyd/pac/magarito thing plays out then pick up the pieces...He will have his big money fights after a few years when KHAN and BRADLEY decide they want to move up...
Berto should stay away from Pac and PBF....

Well Berto is average imo but he is a world champion and take Pac out of the equation he is probably the best viable option especially with Williams and Martinez tied up.
Re: Is berto up next for mayweather...
Yeah, I think Berto should avoid Pac and PBF but Berto is the only viable option for PBF now.

agreed, far too soon for someone who is trying to find his feet at this level
Not that it wouldnt be competitive, berto has fast hands and decent footwork. But it would still be 12rounds of an easy nights work for floyd and neither guy would come out of this with much credit whatsoever
berto should be looking towards the likes of aydin, clottey..not manny and floyd

Have to disagree with this mate too soon? How exactly? He has been world champion for over two years has fought decent fighters for the last two years similar levels to your Clotteys who you say he should fight, he has fought Collazo,Urango and Quintana it's time to sink or swim he will never be good enough for the very best like Pac or Floyd but he was nowhere else to go unless he happy fighting mandatorys, he is just about 27 it is exactly the time to fight the best.

and Pacquiao fighting Margarito isn't?
Floyds stops Berto around the 10th or 11th IMHO, not so much cause of power but cause of accuracy, he'll catch him on the way in and Berto already has loads of question marks surrounding his chin, i think that Berto has taken it easy long enough and should already try it against the relevant big boys of the division
Re: Is berto up next for mayweather...
I've gone from thinking Berto is an unfinished still green fighter to thinking he is as good as he's going to get. Mayweather would toy with him badly the longer it went. I think Bertos people know he is at that sink with the guppies or swim with the sharks stage ,so can see HBO pushing this one.
Re: Is berto up next for mayweather...
I hope so. Berto shouldn't have that title and he would lose it so badly...

These fights are a tad meaningless when we could have the chance to stamp the official #1 P4P ... Beside, I am a tad disturbed by your signature... I can understand that you like tall men but Valuev looks more like a circus freak than anything else if you ask me...
Re: Is berto up next for mayweather...
I don't think Berto will provide Mayweather with much of a challenge, but who knows his speed and explosiveness could cause anything to happen. I liked his chances against Mosley for similar reasons why Floyd did so well against Shane, but I think Floyd is the far smoother fighter with a lot more smooth effective speed then the brash, flashy, robotic speed of Berto.
I still see Berto as way more dangerous than Paul WIlliams for Floyd. His athletic qualities and even his boxing impress me more than Paul who hasn't really impressed me either. Martinez I think has great speed and even decent fluidity like the true natural athlete he is, but he is still flawed technically in a way that I think a guy who is fast enough(and there are few of them) could really pick him apart technically.

You don't know what you're missing. He's a god. If not THE GOD. But, I don't think it's meaningless. If Pac/May won't happen, yes it's a big nasty shame, but fighting champions is never meaningless, imo. Especially dethroning champions that shouldn't be champions. In a division with Pacquiao and Mayweather, Andre Berto simply shouldn't have the WBC title. It's crazy. It would be like having the Klitschkos and Haye at heavyweight and Wlad's walking around without a title to his name but Kevin Johnson is the IBF champion and Arreola is the WBO champion...insanity.

Believe me, I do know what I am missing. Beside, In my humble opinion, if he's a god, the boxing pantheon is doomed to an eternity of agony without any possible redemption.
For the rest, the problem I have is that Pac-Mayweather is THE fight that everyone want to see, Berto can wait a couple of months, it's not only what us fans want to see but also a match that can gather more attraction on the boxing scene, which we kind of need at the moment.

Dude, let Pac/May go for now. It's not Pacquiao's next fight, so why should it have to be Mayweather's? "If you love something, set it free." ~Confucius, or Zab Judah.
