Best chins of our era thoughts on the list?
Don't see a thread on it but sure many of you caught it on yahoo...
Five best chins in boxing - Boxing - Yahoo! Sports
They have
#5-Vitali Klitschko
#4- James Toney
#3- Antonio Margarito
#2 Shane Mosley
#1- David Tua.....
Just falling short was Glen Johnson, Tomaz Adamek and Librado Andrade....
Thoughts? Opinions? Anyone you would like to add or take off the list?...I thought it was a fairly good list though a case could be made for
Hopkins, DLH ( A weight drained DLH, and under sized DLH had been stopped but when you look at his list of opp it is amazing he was only stopped in those 2 instances)...Winky Wright...

nice thread, just to add a few
Chuvalo, Holyfield, Foreman, Morales, are a couple of others
Re: Best chins of our era thoughts on the list?
Oliver McCall, Wayne McCullogh, Gatti and Ward. Is it only guys that are currently fighting?
Re: Best chins of our era thoughts on the list?
Always love these. Getting dropped and staying on the mat are different things. Chin durability should be just going down, getting buzzed in the first place...far more factors can come in when a guy gets "ko'd".
Ray "I actually took a knee vs Holyfield" Mercer. Head of granite.
Chavez senior. Dropped vs Randall...wobbled in 2nd fight but what else for a guy who put himself in the fire?
Juan Laporte was walking titanium. Head was g.o.a.t
Not so sure about Toney. Good head yeh but his defense was sensational. Was buzzed vs Littles, McCallum, Jones jr. Peter dropped him but suppose thats nit picking. Oscar likewise. Got dropped early on, Ike, and belly caved vs Hopkins. Both sturdy no doubt.
Adamek is a tuff SOB but has been shaken and stirred on occasion himself. Banks, Cunningham and an AARP collecting Grant. Fatigue a factor but rocked is rocked.
Just noticed it indicated 'our era' aww well ;D Angulo? Williams ? Joseph Agbeko? Shite I may hate myself for this but Rocky Juarez :-X

agree with you, hell i'd say even Malignaggi's name can be thrown in there, when has he seriously been hurt and dropped hard? i mean yea Cotto, Hatton, and Khan rattled him, but the guy can take crazy amounts of punishment
Re: Best chins of our era thoughts on the list?
If Chuvalo counts, I'm gonna throw Matthew Saad Mohammed out there.
Re: Best chins of our era thoughts on the list?
I think you should count guys thet get buzzed and drop but get back up, or is that considered fortitude? Sometimes you just get hit where you can do nothing but drop, its when your down with your brain scrambled and get back up and survive the round. Thats something alot of fightyers dont have.

I'm going to have to add JMM. Dropped 4 times by Pac, dropped by Mayweather, dropped by Katsidis. Amazingly he never seems fazed after getting dropped. He's been in plenty of other wars too where he probably should have been dropped.

Good call, he gets dropped but is always back up and adjusts very well.
I also go with Toney, he was such a small heavyweight. Well, I mean small in terms of height and reach, the belly kind of got out there towards the end. But he could eat a punch, Peter only put him down because Toney got so fat he didn't know how to balance himself on two legs anymore.
