MMA Fighter Nick Diaz eyeing boxing fight with Mayorga or Vargas at 168lbs.

I know alot of you are against MMA but I thought this might be of interest. Diaz has been pretty vocal about the lack of money he can make in MMA and is discussing options with a boxing promotor at the minute. He's 1-0 as a boxer and 23-7 in MMA. He's the Strikeforce Welterweight (170lbs) Champion and Dana White would like to bring him back to UFC as he is widely considered one of the best within his weightclass. The article says he's discussing 2 possible names. Ricardo Mayorga & Fernando Vargas. Diaz has pretty decent boxing skills for an MMA fighter so I think this is interesting. There was alot made of Toney going to MMA but he was setup for a fall for me. Do you guys see this as a novelty or would you like to see it? How would you rate his chances of success?

I'd be interested to see it. It would be embarrassing for boxing if he were to win however.
I think he loses to both, although probably on cuts rather than ko.
I like both Diaz brothers though and I'd certainly root for him against Vargas.
I'm sure both beat him though, you'd have to hope so else it would shatter the myth that boxers are so much more skilled than MMA backyard brawlers.

He is one of my favourite MMA fighters. The guy isn't interested in making a dull fight. he just wants to stand and trade. He can dig too, so I think he'd be fairly entertaining in a boxing ring. We'll see if it happens.

Last time Vargas was in there he looked to be one Fernando montiel north of 168. He should not be fighting at all. Seen Diaz few times but a whole different world from mma. Likes to give and take and has some recongnition so ,yeh. Mayorga is fighting Cotto and most likely won't be reduced to an introduction type for Diaz dipping his toe in the water just yet.

Hes supposed to be a good boxer with good power but got taken to a decision by someone making their debut;D
Also, do they not realise that he may well walk around at 170 but looking at him he should at least go down to middle.

I know for a fact that him and his brother Nate, have had their asses handed to them and beaten up by a super middle weight club fighter Fernando Barajas at Kings Gym in Oakland, CA.
And here we have people thinking Nick Diaz could be competitive with Mayorga or Vargas...:rolleyes:

I don't know anything about him fighting at Kings, but i do think Mayorga and Vargas take him easily. However i don't know if Vargas can get down to 168, he looked BIG the last time a seen him on TV.

Maorga shows respect after he is beaten by fighters.
Diaz is a Strikeforce champion. Different sports, but thats an achievement Mayorga can't manage.

Watch the Frank Shamrock fight. Diaz talks shit all the way through but after he stops him, he helps up up before he even celebrates a big win. Its exactly the same as both Mayorga and Vargas.

Why's Diaz in strike force and not the ufc ? How many losses does Diaz have? How much has Mayorga earnt compared to Diaz?
