Re: Does Manny stop Shane?
This is a horrible fight for me. Pacquiao has a history of taking on fighters who are coming off of weak showings and then putting them away for good. Cotto, Hatton, Margarito, Morales etc. Mosley is one of my favourites and it would tear me up to see him get dominated and stopped. Pac is clear favourite and odds on to win this. Mosley is older than anyone Pac has ever faced and Pac has shown few indications that he is slowing down himself.
Mosley has that punchers chance. He cannot outwork Pac, he cannot match him for speed. Perhaps he cannot even match him for power. Mosley is not known for using his jab or using his reach either, the two areas that Richardson has pointed out as Pac weaknesses.
All the indicators are that Pac is going to dominate and potentially stop Shane.
But, I am firmly in Mosley's corner and I am hoping and praying that he is able to produce something special just one more time. It will change the world, but I'm not sure if it can happen.
Re: Does Manny stop Shane?
Mosely has hung in there way longer than I ever expected, I was calling him "shot" in 2005. He proved everybody wrong who felt so. However all fighters get old, and there's usually one particular fight in which this happens that later on, we can all pinpoint.
I feel this may wel;l be the fight in which later on we say Shane really (finally) showed his years, and its his last hurrah, if he's gonna win HE BETTER PULL SOMETHING OUT OF THAT LONG, DEEP BAG OF TRICKS HE HAS DEVELOPED AND KNOCK PAC OUT QUICK---REAL QUICK. Once the Phillipino Buzz Saw gets buzzin' and gets his rhythm going fine and smooth like a whirring machine, let's say by round 5, its a hopeless situation for Mosely.
I think Pac will stop Mosely in between 7 and 8. The doctor will actually stop it. Mosely's face will be swelled up like a hot air balloon, looking quite the jack o lantern with a grimace and a grin.
Re: Does Manny stop Shane?
Even Mosley's age alone should be be screaming out loudly. He is 39. 39! Even the people Pac has been cleaning up have been a lot younger than this. Sure, Mosley knocked out a weight drained and caught in the headlights with the wrappings Margarito. But Cotto took him to the limits and that was half a decade ago. He is 39. That fact alone should have us all arching our eyebrows. And then factor in the recent performances. Hatton did better against Mayweather than Mosley did.
I love Mosley, he is a fantastic character. But this fight has me really worried for him. I really hope it is us who have all got it wrong, just like with the Morales fight because there is nothing worse than a deluded old fighter taking a beating.
Re: Does Manny stop Shane?
I dont want shane to take a beating but its probably going to happen. But I think Shane needs to do himself a favour here and throw caution into the wind and coming out throwing lead right hands like his life depends on it. If he does that then he may get some respect from pac and keep him away for a few rounds. No use being cautious against pac, hes going to hit you no matter what so most well make the best of it and go for broke.
Re: Does Manny stop Shane?
this is not an easy fight for PACMAN , Shane is fast , durable and has power , this could be an upset.

For a second there i thought Dark lord was Freddie Roach.
Re: Does Manny stop Shane?
Father Time will stop Shane. Manny is merely the instrument.
Re: Does Manny stop Shane?
I think that in some ways this is a very interesting fight.
By all logic, Manny should blow out Mosley and batter him into submission. However, Mosley still has his power and, as he showed against Mayweather, he still has the timing to do serious damage. He's arguable the most heavy-handed fighter that Pacquaio has faced and if his lands the same type of punch that stunned Mayweather we could see a massive upset.
However, I'm 95% sure that Pacquiao beats the living shit out of an old and hesitant Mosley who is unable to pull the trigger until Mosley's corners pulls him out of the fight somewhere around the 9th-10th round.
Re: Does Manny stop Shane?
Mosley doesn't have the stamina anymore. I say Manny takes him out around 6-8.
Re: Does Manny stop Shane?
Don't write Shane off people!
It could well be a stoppage win but Shane has a very good chin and his power might just give Manny something else to think about in this fight. Yes he has fought decent punchers before, but the power of Mosley? I doubt it. Oscar is probably closest but he couldn't have knocked me out that night never mind an elite pro fighter. Also Mosley is still quite fast despite his age.
I'm not saying I think Mosley will win, I just think this could be very interesting and if next sunday we are talking about the huge upset from the night before, well.... I won't be too shocked!
My prediction for the moment is a Manny UD.
Re: Does Manny stop Shane?
Im torn between points win for Manny or late stoppage. Those are the two scenarios and I'll decide after the weigh in but I'll be hoping Shane gets an upset stoppage win.
If its at a catchweight of 145 Shane has no chance but at 147 He should have enough to make this a dangerous fight for Pac for about 4 rounds. After that ot becomes the type of fight where Mosley, with his mouth wide open, looking desperate loads up and misses with wild swings ands pacs rolls under them throwds a 3 punch combo and gets out of there again. This process will repeat until Shane is completely worn down.
Pacs stratgey of hit and not be hit will be evident from the 5th onwards. Each round that goes by after that will be a case of hoping Shane gets through it beofre Richardson throws the towel in or Bayless stops it.
Re: Does Manny stop Shane?
I would just like to add
WAR MOSLEY!!!
Re: Does Manny stop Shane?
If Manny stops Mosley he should get full credit for it imo. Nobody has come close to knocking him out before.
I see this as a dead cert 12 round fight with Shane tiring down the stretch and losing a decision, but I think it could be interesting early, and think Shane has the power to instantly change the fight if he lands.
Certainly he will find Manny a lot easier to hit than Floyd or Sergio Mora, his last two opponents.
Pac should win, but it's not a gimme fight, and if Manny stops him then that would be a very impressive performance indeed.
Re: Does Manny stop Shane?
If Manny stops Moseley, it will be quite a feat, Moseley, though getting older, has never been stopped and I don't remember to have seen him seriously hurt neither.
What will play a huge role in that fight is the gas: After the 5th round against Floyd, I felt that Shane was very tired, he got away with it because Floyd's not an agressive fighter and he doesn't throw that many punches but it will be quite different with Manny, especially if he attacks often the body, sucking some extra energy off him.
