Arreola weighs in his lowest weight since 2007
Looked at the weights for the Showtime fights tomorrow, here they are
Andre Ward 168 vs. Arthur Abraham 167
Chris Arreola 234 vs. Nagy Aguilera 238
Shawn Estrada 174 vs. Joseph Gardner 166
Javier Molina 148.25 vs. Danny Figueroa 148
Manuel Quezada 233 vs. Bowie Tupou 245
Matt Villanueva 117 vs. Frank Gutierrez 118
Armen Ovesepyan 147.75 vs. Arturo Brambilla 149.5
Ty Barnett 135 vs. Andrey Klimov 137.5
Venue: Home Depot Center, Carson, California
Promoter: Goossen Tutor/Sauerland Event
TV: SHOWTIME
That's right, 234, let's look at his weights throughout the years
2011
249
2010
256
250(adamek fight)
2009
263
251(Vitali Fight)
255
2008
254
258
239
244
2007
245
233
235
230
So pretty much Arreola is fighting at his lowest weight since 2007 when he was coming onto the scene, personally I think it's great if he sticks with it. What do you think?

well, he made his run, didn't pan out. It's not like his career is over and it's not like there's much out there to compare him to. It's also not like he doesn't have a chance to get up there again. If he is really serious about his conditioning, he does have the hand speed and skill set to challenge for a title again.

I think he is poor and will never win a title. Just my opinion.

I never said win ;)
Re: Arreola weighs in his lowest weight since 2007
Yea he was looking slimmer in those presser pics from about a month ago, but 234 is a litle suprising. Don't think he will ever win a title, but at least it seems he's taking it serious.

Re: Arreola weighs in his lowest weight since 2007
Man thats outstanding...has he learned to duck yet....or jab :-X
Re: Arreola weighs in his lowest weight since 2007
It's a start I guess. But he was still a fat fuck in 2007.
Re: Arreola weighs in his lowest weight since 2007
We'll see in the fight if he got there the right way or not. Be pretty unusual for a guy to become disciplined at 29 wouldn't it?
Re: Arreola weighs in his lowest weight since 2007
Part of Arreola's problem is his skill level and not his weight.

Arreola has said before several bouts that he was dedicating himself. Well, now it seems like he means it. His weight is finally down to a respectable level. He said in one interview he stopped eating out so much and stopped skipping training (which he seemed to do alot in the past).
I still think he should be in the mid 220s, but 234 is good compared to what we have seen. Now if someone would get him to throw the right hand correctly, Marble could stop cringing during Arreola fights.
As for it being unusual for a guy to become disciplined at 29, I agree. He has good reasons though. He doesn't want to be a gatekeeper at 29 or 30. HW really sucks outside of the top 3. Povetkin doesn't want to fight. Chagaev sits all the time. Dimitrenko and Boystov don't really seem to be progressing. And on down the line. If Arreola looks impressive and then gets back in the ring early in the fall (and wins convincingly) he could be in line for another title shot next year. Will he win? Probably not. I'd favor all the beltholders to beat him, but such an opportunity is a huge payday and he'd have a fighting chance.

234 is impressive for him. Will be interested to see who he gets in with next after he crushes Aguilera

I hope Cris can turn his career around because I would still like for Wlad to fight him.
Chris Byrd dropped from HW to Light Heavy after he was old and done. This isn't comparable. Arreola didn't come down in weight all in one training camp. He weighed 249 for his last fight and then said he was 252 at his highest since then, instead of ballooning to his normal 280-285.
