Small areas that have produced a lot of quality fighters
I don't know how many people caught the Peter Quillin fight on Khan's undercard a few weeks back, but the commentator came up with a fact that I was amazed by.
Quillin had grown up on a street in Grand Rapids called Cass Avenue. That same street has also produced Floyd Mayweather Jr, James Toney, Floyd Sr, Roger Mayweather, Jeff Mayweather, Tony Tucker & Buster Mathis Sr & Jr. Definitely not the place to pick a fight evidently.
That's pretty damn impressive to have come all out of one street, particularly in a city as small as Grand Rapids. I mean you've obviously got the family link in there with the Mayweathers & the Mathis', but the fact it wasn't just one gym churning them all out makes it all the more impressive for me.
So I was wondering if anyone else knew of any other examples where one small area has produced a range of quality fighters?

Pacquiao and Donaire both came from General Santos City, Philippines.

I probably should have been more specific. I mean like an area within a city. So like Harlem in New York or Moss Side in Manchester (random examples). Even there, I'd be curious if there were a group from a smaller area within those places.
General Santos City is a decent sized city I believe. Did they grow up in the same area?

Croydon, England.
Wayne Alexander
The Mckenzie Brothers
Albert Finch - Inflicted Randy Turpin's first defeat PTS 8
Chas Symonds - Southern area champ at welter
Gary Logan - Southern area champ at welter also
I'm sure there's a few more but it's late and i'm knackered so can't think straight ;D
I'd be very surprised if many (or any non brits had heard of Logan and Symonds)

How about the Welsh lads? How close are Joe, Enzo, Nathan and Gavin to each other geographically?
Wladimir and Vitali both came from the same womb. Doesn't get more specific than that.

Also, Maui won't be pleased you've stolen one of his thread ideas.

Goddamned ingrates!
How about Brownsville in Brooklyn? A neighborhood of about 100l people. Tyson, Bowe, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, Bummy Davis, Zab Judah, Daniel Jocabs and Shannon Briggs. That's not too bad.
Back in the day Manhattan's Lower East Side Italian and Jewish Ghettos were just loaded.
Benny Leonard, Al Singer, Tony Graziano etc.

Quality fighters goddammit ;D
That's not a bad shout, but I'd deliberatly left off areas of London, because I guess I'd feel a place has to have at least 1 legit hall of famer & then some other quality fighters.

Not a bad shout at all. Both Calzaghe & Rees are from Newbridge & Cleverly is from Caerphilly, which I'd assume are close. You're the Welsh one, you'd know. Enzo Mac was from Swansea though, so I don't know if he really counts.

Brownsville came to mind, but I wasn't sure how big the area was. According to wiki, just the one square mile. So that's pretty special.
Although I still give the edge to Cass Avenue, they've got 2 HoFers to Brownsville's 1.
Didn't Louisville have a load of HW champs who came out of one place? Ali & Ellis I know were from near each other, but were there others?

Accra Ghana , Azumah Nelson - Ike Quartey - Alfred Kotey -
Re: Small areas that have produced a lot of quality fighters
well seeing how Caguas, PR has less than 150,000 residents and has spawned such fighters like Miguel Cotto, Jose Miguel Cotto, Juanma Lopez, Alfredo Escalera, and former title challenger in Juan Carazo, i think it qualifies

I think we should take this time to acknowledge just how shit China are. Half the world's population and............
