Sick Leave

Off on the sick at the minute. Feel genuinely wiped out, cracking temperature, no energy, aches and pains all over, you know the drill, too ill to wank! Only place that feels comfortable is a hot bath but that leads to the inevitable getting out of the bath cold episode.

How do you negotiate your sick days?

1. Fuck it, go to work anyway, Im hard (Knobhead)
2. Wait till Im 100% better and take 1 bonus day at the end?
3. Take a week regardless of how I feel, their fault for the 3 strikes rule.

Now Im genuinely i'll so dont feel bad about it, I still felt the need to put on the pathetic voice when calling in to let the boss know.

They wouldnt ask me to leave thats the thing, Im occasionally coughing up some nasty shit but other than that I just look (to anyoe looking at me) half asleep.

I wouldnt ever take that gamble to be honest.

I have not had a sick day off in the time I have been at my present employer which is 6 years and get a letter from the chief to thank me every year.

Never had one, but Missy has cracked it. I'd go in with the aim of getting sent home (not classed as calling in sick then!) and if I didn't at least I'd know I'd be able to infect which ever twats wouldn't send me home.

The last time I was seriously sick I vomited solid food through my nose (blew my nose in the bath an hour later and a fucking mushroom fell out!). I've never had a sick day and we have a skeleton staff so I didn't really want one. But I made it clear that unless I was doing nothing but sitting on my arse like a glorified receptionist wasn't coming in!

If you are genuinely sick then take your days off and feel no guilt. There is no use going in and infecting everyone else. That would be the selfish thing to do.

I never take sick days, but thankfully I have never needed to. I do all my sickness on vacation time.

I really cant afford to take sick days... it would seem none of the people I work with can either. seems like a bit of a merry go round at work and at home the past few months... never been ill as often as I have lately!

Im feeling a bit sad now :-\ Seems plenty of people are unable to take sick days off as they wont get paid. Some wont out of a sense of duty, I understand it but I could never do it, at least not working for someone else anyway.

Im still off, cant remember ever taking a whole week off sick but I think its going to happen. Ive been sick for a few days before and taken a week just for the sake of it but never actually been sick for a week.

I was off last month for a week through food poisoning. Bloody hate taking time off as we dont get paid when off sick which is a bummer!!

I used to work at Orange many years ago and they had a great policy which paid sick days, in fact ya were paid a max of 21 sick days per year. Well that was open to abuse I can tell ya. Not only did ya get 4 weeks hols a year but a further 21 days Sick!

Thats been the setup in the last two places I've worked mate. 3 strike rule, anything more than 3 strikes of sickness and questions would start to get asked, a strike could be a day or a week or more.

No ones going to take a strike for 1 days worth of sickness, might as well stay home for a week.

Our work place pays up to 6 months full sick pay.
