Re: Thailand Training Camp
If you were MMA orientated it would be a great and tough two weeks training there as there kick boxers like to test out visitors.
Re: Thailand Training Camp
Why Thailand? On another web-site I check in on, there is a guy that posts videos from a camp in Thailand, and MMA camp...useless as hell for boxing. I would bet a ton that, close to where you are, there are a handful of guys with incredible amounts of boxing knowledge, that can teach you things you have yet to contemplate.
What matters, and this often goes unmentioned, is the personal connection you have with your trainer. The more you are able to be influenced by him, the more you will learn.

Depends what you're looking to train. If you're looking for muay thai then yes perfect but don't expect it to be a holiday as most that I know of will throw you straight in training like the pro's twice a day ;D If fitness and weightloss is what you're after then go for it - OR are there any good clubs/trainers that you would like to work with - some not all offer some form of private tuition. You could go to the regular training sessions along with what ever privates you can arrange.
You need to think what you want to achieve with your time

Re: Thailand Training Camp
Im doing a lot of thai boxing at the minute as my dissertation title is about thai boxing, ive been training hard its such a good sport. Going to Thailand and training is worth it, you get so much out of it. one of the pros in my gym is currently out there on a camp and ill speak to him when he gets back.
In southport where I live, there are some good Thai boxing gyms, one in particular is Tony Chans gym in southport. This week there has been some really sad news from his gym as one of his promising fighters who was only 20 years old sadly passed away on the day he was returning from doing one of these camps. Here is the link about that: Southport boxer dies in Thailand holiday riddle - Southport Visiter
It really sad news what has happened, but it shows how challenging these camps really are.
Re: Thailand Training Camp
Wonder what the post mortem will uncover? Let us know when they find out will you mate?
Could be a congenital heart thing, just had a mate die that way, it ran in his family, he finished surfing jumped back in the boat to come home was relaxed and went out like a light.
Re: Thailand Training Camp
Ive heard that that the lad had asthma and this was something to do with what has happened. I will try and find out fully what happened and let you know. Its really sad times though as this lad was clearly a prospect and for that to happen you have to feel for the family. I am not involved in their gym, but their coach Tony Chan is one of my friends he worked in my local gym when I was younger. I am going to be visiting their gym soon as part of my research into the sport, but I know they are a strong gym and they will get through this tough time.
Death is a horrible thing, i hope you are alright with what has happened to your mate. Its tragic when things like that happen. :(

Yeah life has to go on mate, cheers.
Bangkok has got some wicked pollution,to have asthma and push the limit in those fumes for a week or more could be telling the heart would work overtime too.

But i would prefer something boxing orientated rather than Muay Thai. Does anyone know any countries to visit that would be good for this? What about Cuba? Cheers.
Sounds better.
