Official Sergio Martinez gloating thread

Others are talking about gloating if Chavez Jr. is successful, but what happens if/when Martinez outboxes Jr. like many of us have predicted ?

I say we do some gloating of our own !

I think this fight will resemble Jeff Lacy vs. Joe Calzaghe except more competitive early on with Chavez Jr. possibly winning 2 or 3 of the first 5 rounds.

Martinez is not the volume puncher that Calzaghe was, but he is a crafty unorthodox southpaw who happens to be a great counter puncher.

This is the defining fight for Chavez and Martinez, especially if Martinez loses and he knows it.

if martinez wins i think you guys should all get together and circle jerk all over each other's chests then lick each other clean.

Damn it when I created this thread I thought we were gonna get the PPV, but my Dad decided to save money and watch the free 4 header Canelo card on Showtime instead.

The gloating will be far less enjoyable just reading about Sergio Martinez schooling Chavez and very likely getting robbed less he scores the KO....

I would have been gloating bigtime, had it not been for the 12th round, that kinda spoiled what was a total domination up to that point for Sergio.
Martinez did make his point however, the KD at the end turned out to be meaningless.

Sergio totally schooled and outclassed Junior in every sense. He could've skated through that last round and won a complete whitewash. He got caught, like most every fighter gets caught eventually. But he didn't run. He kept trading with Junior, risking it all. He showed some balls tonight. He also proved that he's stratospheres above Junior in boxing class.

Martinez is just the more skilled fighter. Chavez is not on his level as a fighter. But he's got just as much heart as any fighter out there. He took his beating like a man (Lot of fighters would of quit). Took a deep breath and went for broke in the last round. And almost got the stoppage. It wasn't a great fight. But it was a great moment at the end

Agreed. He made Chavez look like an amatuer. Yeah he got caught in the end, but fuck, any middleweight that gets hit solid by a cruiserweight will go down.

And it sucks that he had to do that for 1/2 of what Chavez got paid. :shakehead:

Martinez better finally get his big fights and paydays. He fucking deserves it already.

I for one am tired of seeing fucking Junior starve and dehydrate himself to "make" weight, only to bloat up to cruiserweight size at fight time. It's unfair...... what's the damn point of having weight divisions? Junior doesn't even belong in the same ring with Martinez, and yet he could've knocked Martinez out, not because of his skill...... but because of his huge size. I posted a poll on "same day" weigh-ins on another thread.

And the money thing stinks like 10-day old garbage. Junior obviously gets the big payday because of his frigging name, nothing else. I'm just happy he got his precious little "0" ripped away from him.

Martinez really had Chavez confused for eleven rounds. I don't know if Martinez finally slowed down enough, lost focus or just made a mistake but Chavez got to him in the 12th, had him on the deck and made a good fight into a great fight. That was a fight that will be talked about plenty. It was definitely worth the wait! Martinez wins.
