The "Puerto Rico vs. Mexico boxing rivalry" - who's winning?
Puerto Rico and Mexico probably have the best major rivalry in boxing. By comparison, Puerto Rico is a much smaller country then Mexico, but for it's size it's produced a ton of great fighters. All things considered, which country do you believe is getting the best of this rivalry and why?
P.S. Let's keep things civil, and just present the facts. :-X
Re: The "Puerto Rico vs. Mexico boxing rivalry" - who's winning?
Mexico for sure. Especially lately that we've hit a "bad run".
(I thought I'd be the first to say it, before the Mexican connection comes running in here).
;D
Of course, outnumbering us 110 million to 5 million, it's not totally unexpected.
We've held our own... and have had some great victories.
Wikipedia has a 35-23 margin for Mexico, if you want pure numbers.
On the other hand, Margarito's wins should be substracted from the total, as they were more than likely due to his plaster casts.
'Nough said.
Let the piranha feeding frenzy begin.
;)

Re: The "Puerto Rico vs. Mexico boxing rivalry" - who's winning?
Most of the bigger fights have been won by Mexican fighters. Not only that Mexican fighters aren't assisted by another country like Puerto Rican fighters are, Mexico supplies it's own. Puerto Rico can't do that. PR fighters are able to train and prepare themselves for fights cuz of the US. And only cuz of the US. If it wasn't for the US, Puerto Rican fighters would come to the ring with one glove, no shoes and a bath towel as a robe. Really every win by a PR fighter should come with an * next to it

You probably wouldn't recognize it.
It's got no grafitti-scrawled walls or gutted, rat-infested buildings.

Damn near impossible to do grafitti when you're using mud as paint

I have to admit... mud is much harder to use than blood squeezed from needle-riddled veins..... so you DO have an advantage there.

Re: The "Puerto Rico vs. Mexico boxing rivalry" - who's winning?
Of course the US won't require you to carry that Id. 98 percent of ricans can't afford a ticket out the island with the 5 cents a day wage. The other 2 percent aren't aware other countries exist.
