There's more chance of Audley becoming world champ than Floyd having 6 more fights.
I say this whole 6 fight deal is just to get some publicity for the 2 fights he'll have this year.
His activity is shocking, don't see him having 3 of them in the next 2 years let alone another 6.
But I will say this, if it is a publicity thing, it worked a treat.
Idiots I know who think Sugar Ray is a coffee making gadget in star wars are talking about his 6 fights.
Re: There's more chance of Audley becoming world champ than Floyd having 6 more fight
Well he does have Guerrero in May so its now 5 more in about 26 months. That will be the biggest knock
on Floyd by historians after Floyd has retired. His inactivity. Even from a fans point of view and it may be a selfish one but you almost feel robbed having not been able to see him more. In 5 years he has fought 4 times. That is pathetic and even worse when you have that kind of talent from a fan and historians perspective. Sure he does not need to fight more because of the money he makes but you would think he would want to in order to be mentioned later in life with guys like Armstrong, Hearns, Robinson and Leonard. Money looks like his legacy and when you add the phantom fight to the mix he will have a few asterisks on the record.

Anyone who won't put Floyd in the same catagory as those greats either a) doesn't know boxing, b) has a grudge against Floyd or c) all of the above.
As far as inactivity goes... well, he's had more fights than Leonard. Those old timers fought every couple of weeks it seems but I'm willing to bet 90% or more of their opponents were complete bums anyway. And a lot of their BIG wins were against guys who were only famous for fighting and doing well against them lol.
As far as Hagler, Hearns, guys like that, yeah they may have fought 15-20 times more than Floyd by the time Floyd's career is over, but how many of those extra fights do you think were really relevant? Does anyone really care that Hearns beat up guys like Doug Dewitt? And how is Pipino Cuevas (totally overrated) a better fighter to beat than guys like Ricky Hatton?

Oh I'm sure many of his die hard fans already rank him alongside those guys. I dont for numerous reasons and yeah he's not obligated to anyone but himself but whether he or anyone else agrees or not he will have notations on the record most likely at his inactivity and half the blame for the fight that was off before talks even started. Because guys like Leonard and Duran would have fought twice already. Comparisons will be made and Floyd will have some negative attached to his name in spite of his tremendous talent.
Re: There's more chance of Audley becoming world champ than Floyd having 6 more fight
Let's see if he fights again this year. We know that they're currently negotiating a fight with Alvarez. If he fights again then you can expect him to fight next May 5th so that'll be three fights in fifteen months.

When you add the whole Pacquiao thing into it, they will always say Floyd was great but "he missed the PAC fight" there will always be "buts" when he's spoke about.
Personally, I don't like him. But as a fighter he's great. Just too many things I would have "liked" to have seen and not so many I "loved" that moments.
Ortiz fight was a joke. Cotto fight wasn't special. He hasn't really did much to impress recently.

True, that was the biggest blown fight in boxing history. I don't blame one guy specifically for it, I think they both missed the boat on that one. It's a shame the two spoiled prima donnas couldn't be bothered to put differences aside to make the fight of the century, but whatever.
I think Floyd is a much more complete fighter than the guys mentioned though (Hearns, Hagler, Leonard and Duran). I can look at all those guys and say "well if you look here, he had a lot of trouble with this style", whereas I can look at Floyd and see that he fought and bested pretty much any style you can think of, and had the ability to adapt to his opponent and switch to plan B, C, or Z if necessary in a fight.
Back to the thread though, I say Floyd will fight 6 more times. I'd say he will do it over 2 1/2 to 3 years.
Re: There's more chance of Audley becoming world champ than Floyd having 6 more fight
Floyd knows it's almost over and he knows he doesn't want to be broke, he'll fight twice this year than twice next year, than one that fight in 2015, so I'm saying 5 fights, Floyd isn't a dummy he doesn't want to come back at 45, that changes your thinking.
Re: There's more chance of Audley becoming world champ than Floyd having 6 more fight
I don't think Floyd is smart enough with his money to live off his earnings. I'd say you'll be seeing Floyd make the ol' "40+ comeback" more than once.

Man I never thought about that.
But if I agreed with you any more, my head would fall off from nodding.

Leonard took on very dangerous fighters like Hearns and Duran (who was out of his best weight class but vicious enough to beat Leonard) which shortened his career. Had Leonard been selective like Floyd he could have made a lot more money but not much respect as he has now from fans.
When Leonard came back after the Hagler victory he carefully selected his opponents which is where Floyd got the blue print to make money and stay safe.

Agreed, I believe Canelo would beat Floyd.
Young skillful, powerful and has decent speed.
