Golovkin at super middle?
Now if you read my posts, I'm very critical of fighters with blown up records like Wilder, Broner and Golovkin.
However Golovkin stepped up to a higher class last night and he really impressed me.
He looks sharp and accurate and to be brutally honest, I don't see anyone in the division stopping him, even Martinez.
The first thing the commentators said after his win was, should he move up to super middle? And I think he should.
He'd have even more power and its a division that is already very exciting and it's a debate between the 147 (or 152 currently with Mayweather / Canelo) and super middle for which is the best division.
Anybody else think the step up would make for some proper good match ups?
Re: Golovkin at super middle?
I don't think Martinez would have beaten him prime for prime , let alone now.

Agreed, Martinez should retire, retire now and avoid losing at the late stage.
He wants none of Golovkin.

Golovkin didn't "step up", he was fighting a over-hyped fighter who is/was breakable.
Saying Golovkin stepped up against Macklin is like saying Broner stepped up against Gavin Rees.

My god you are clueless.
Re: Golovkin at super middle?
I dont know what GGG should do. I feel sorry for him. No one will want to fight him.
Re: Golovkin at super middle?
I agree 100%, if he can't fight Martinez (which i guess he can't due to Martinez's time off), he should step up to 168 and take a few fights there before a Martinez showdown... because there really isn't any intriguing matchups for him at 160.

I dont see a point of a Martinez match. You can clearly see Martinez is on the decline from his last couple of fights. GGG beating him doesnt prove much to me. Id like to see him in the SMW mix but feel he would struggle against a guy like Ward who knows how to use his size as an advantage.
Re: Golovkin at super middle?
He should just clean ut 160, going up to 168 is career suicide for him, simpky uz he will never beat ward, I would like to see him mix it up with canelo an chavez
Re: Golovkin at super middle?
Macklin was a hype job... I wouldn't put any stock in that. If Golovkin had stopped Froch or even Bute (which he probably could have stopped Bute at middle or super middle, at least) then you would have impressed me.
The only thing with this Macklin fight for Golovkin was to compare it to the Martinez fight. If Martinez takes this Golovkin challenge that's brewing, he WILL lose and he will retire shortly afterwards.
A lot of people were shocked that Martinez took the Chavez fight, and did WELL in it too. Well, did well up until the last round- but he surprised me.
But then again, perhaps we had Chavez up too high- higher than he was supposed to have been?

Lucky for Golovkin hes not tryinmg to impress you. Martinez was favorite to beat Chavez and most people, including me, thought he would do so comfortably. If Golovkin fights Martinez he will be a good fav with the bookies too and will most likely stop Martinez but given Martinez' latest performances I dont see how that would be any more impressive then stopping Macklin.
Your opinion of fighters is poor, your predictions of how fights will go are poor and your overall judgment of boxing is poor. You need to learn a lot more about the game before questioning fighters abilities.

Well decline or not, he's still the undisputed champion of GGG's division and ranked high in the p4p rankings.
Re: Golovkin at super middle?
GGG fans are acting like Macklin was a prime ATG, he was a very good win but let's not act like he beat Martinez, Quillin or Chavez. Proska got Friday so you can say GGG has 2 good wins at 31. GGG would not beat prime Martinez, Martinez was stripped of 3 world titles in 10,months that's how feared he was, GGG don't got shit on what Martinez did and never will. Quillin still has the better wins than hype job GGG. Let him stay and not pretend he's cleared out 160 after 2 good wins

You GGG fans absolutely love him his resume isn't great for a 31 year old
Re: Golovkin at super middle?
He looks incredible. Thats why I like him and think he is unstopable. Of course Martinez has a better resume but I dont think GGG loses to anyone he beat. Quillin ends up completely iced if he gets in the ring with GGG.
I didnt think Macklin would win but the way you clueless fools disregard Macklin is a joke. He is a good, very tough fighter. GGG beat him as if he was nothing.
