Marquez did NOT land a lucky punch.
There are several people on this forum who say that Marquez landed a lucky punch against Pacquiao. However, that is not the case. Marquez trained for that punch, as this video shows:

Re: Marquez did NOT land a lucky punch.
It wasn't lucky. Anybody that fights Pac knows he can be timed. I thought Marquez would get him in their first fight; I thought Barrera would get him. Didn't expect anything from Morales.
Pac's big punch was always his right hook; he'd throw the left and bring the left foot up to set up the hook. I thought he'd get kod just like that, but it was obviously harder to do in real than it seemed on video.
Re: Marquez did NOT land a lucky punch.
Also, Marquez went pro in 1999, meaning he's been a pro for 12-14 years. He's probably thrown a punch like that thousands of times in his career.

As for who said it was a lucky punch:

Re: Marquez did NOT land a lucky punch.
I don't think many people said it was a lucky punch, it's pretty clear that Marquez threw it and knew exactly where it was going. It's not like it was a clubbing punch thrown with the hope of hitting the boxer somewhere like Oliver Mcall did to Lennox Lewis for instance.

Come on, all the saddos that said it was a lucky punch speak up now or the mods will name you.
I was one, add in all the variables
1. He looked like he was going to get knocked out at anypoint.
2. When has Marquez ever knocked anyone out cold, he has never been a fighter with great punching power on any level.
3. Pac has fought fighters who have hit harder and he was able to take there punches just fine, it had been a while since he had even been down, this defied the odds.
Maybe Marquez timed him perfectly, but to knock him out cold after looking all but defeated was luck.
There is no such thing as a lucky punch in boxing. How can it be luck when the whole point in boxing is to hit your opponent? It makes no fucking sense.

In football when someone throws a hail marry in the end zone and its caught is it luck or not because the pass is thrown to be caught, in basketball when a player shoots from the other end of the court and makes the shot is it luck or not since he intended for it to go in, since you don't like to use the word luck lets replace it with miracle.
Are they throwing Hail Mary's all 4 downs? Are they taking half court shots every single possession? No there not. Marquez said before the fight he was gonna go for the knock out. And from the first round you can see he was going for it. Fuck getting robbed. He was gonna knock him out this time. And he did.
