Tommy Morrison: Best Left Hook in HW history
I know this is sacreligious, but given his sad death this is the best tribute I can give him.
I think Tommy's hook was superior to Frazier's.
IMO it was a more POWERFUL hook and slightly more compact. He could rip it to the body like Frazier, throw it from all angles, distances and projections like Frazier. But I think Morrison's hook had that extra something.
RIP Duke.
Re: Tommy Morrison: Best Left Hook in HW history
I think Gerry Cooney hit harder with his left hook.

I agree, and at that end I think David Tua and probably Tyson hit harder with the left hook too.
But there was something about how effectively Morrison used it, the speed and compactness, how he could throw it on a milisecond notice (like the one that caught Razor Ruddock). It was just a thing of beauty to watch his left hook, for my money it was the best when you take into consideration all the factors.

I am sure Rudduck got up from "that" shot.

Best in HISTORY?!?!?! Are you out of your mind?!?!?! Frazier, Cooney, Foreman, Marciano, Dempsey, JOE LOUIS, Mike Tyson, David Tua....I mean there are TONS of left hooks better that Tommy's.
Tommy was a fun fighter to watch though, shame he died r.i.p

What was so great about Foreman, Marciano and Dempsey's left hook? Besides the power, they really didn't have nearly the finesse that Tommy had.
Cooney's was good but he didn't have nearly the speed or versitility with it.
Tyson, Tua and Frazier are the only three who I think even belong in the same conversation when it comes to left hooks.

Finesse? Why would you want to throw a left hook with finesse? Bullshit man, bull....shit

I am sure Foreman, Dempsey and Marciano had better right hands/hooks, so Beanflicker is right.

I'd never dispute that fact, or even say that Morrison belongs in the same sentence with those guys in terms of overall greatness.
But none of those guys could throw a left hook like Tommy Morrison.
The only guys who are in the same league are Frazier, Tua and Tyson IMO.

Really ? Come on I know the guys just died but he was an average fighter nothing special about him IMO

I'm not saying he was a great fighter, I'm just saying he did one thing REALLY well.
Being a great fighter doesn't mean you're automatically the best at everything. David Tua had a better left hook than Ali. Doesn't mean he's a better fighter, just means he could crank that left hook like a battering ram.
Re: Tommy Morrison: Best Left Hook in HW history
Very entertaining and fun to watch but also a cheater having used performance enhancing drugs to have an edge over his opponent. How good would that left hook be if it didn't have that little extra oomph behind it?

That's a very fair question/point. When it comes down to best left hooks to me its between Frazier and Morrison, but obviously Frazier never had the benefits of using steroids like Morrison.
Re: Tommy Morrison: Best Left Hook in HW history
Tony Galento is the only missing name here I can think of regarding bone-crunching left hooks.
