Groves in £100k dispute with ex-trainer Booth

George Groves' preparations for his super-middleweight showdown with Carl Froch have been disrupted by a £100,000 legal dispute with former trainer Adam Booth.
Groves faces WBA and IBF champion Froch in Manchester on November 23 in his first world title fight, but spent Tuesday at a hearing to work out whether or not Booth, who split from the undefeated 25-year-old in September, is due to receive up to £100,000 from the fight.
The trainer, who continues to work with David Haye, informed Groves by text message that their partnership was over, a surprising decision ahead of the biggest fight of the Briton's career to date.
Now the British Boxing Board of Control have been asked to determine whether or not Booth is due manager's fees from the fight, according to the Daily Mail.
Groves is expected to make around £350,000-£450,000 from the fight, depending on the success of pay-per-view sales with Sky Box Office. Should the fight land him £400,000, manager's fees would cost him £100,000.
Despite the proximity to the fight, both sides are understood to have insisted on settling the dispute before Groves steps into the ring with Froch, who is in line for a £1.5million payday.
The Southern Area will forward the findings of their tribunal to the full Council, whose initial outcomes will be discussed at the BBBoC's monthly meeting on November 13.
"There is a possibility that this could go before our appeal stewards after that," General Secretary Robert Smith said.

i hope it is all a big joke and groves always intended to walk in with booth, all just to make froch wobble a bit :)

Looks like there's more chance of Groves headbutting walls or employing special effects makeup experts to get out of the fight than Booth and him ever working together again.

If anyone even remotely believes this they are thick.

There is such amniosity between them that they are still working in the same gym...

If listening to the shit that has come out of that gym over the years has taught us anything its to take it with a pinch of salt.

Booth will be there with his grinch grin thinking hes pulled some master stroke in the mind games department and chuckling that Froch even brought it up;D

Yeah its going in front of the BBOC but only to see if Booth is owed money from this fight. Its just something to make it all look legit to morons. No one is taking anyone to court or suing.

Even if they were still working together they could ask the board to look at how much Booth would be owed.

Ayone who is easily led could possibly believe that this is definitely concrete evidence that they are no longer working together. Even though they are still both working out of the same gym.

Froch needs to concentrate on putting his own work in rather than comcern himself with what little rumours come out of that gym. Booth must have cracked up when Froch bought it up at the initial press conference. I bet Groves had to hold a grin back;)

Ross, why do you keep saying they're working from the same gym? Booth/Haye's gym is in Vauxhall London. Paddy Fitzpatrick's (Groves alleged current trainer) gym is in Swindon.

So you're saying they've been sneaking Groves into Booth's gym with fake noses, mustaches, wigs and stuff?

How can a manager take that much from a fighter, that is a disgrace, I know I am tight but if I was fighting they would not get more than 10%. Groves is risking his life in that ring. :mad:

Ok, I might back down and admit I may be wrong then. I honestly thought that Fitzpatrick worked in Hayes gym. This is what my whole point was based on and now my theory has crumbled around me I feel silly.:eek:

I would still be surprised if this wasn't some sort of "mind games".

If it isn't, then maybe groves has seen through Booth as just a cheerleader who can hold pads and wears gothic, drag queen platforms;D hes realised that Boith isnt worth a clear 25% of his purse.

On £250k wouldn't Groves be paying 50% tax?
