Deontay Wilder- I'm in agreement with the board's consensus.
... he needs a tough fight. He may be able to go straight to an eliminator or title fight in his next time out. I think the current crop of guys is just not enough for him to be able to compete.
In his last six fights he only fought for 13 rounds out of all of them combined.
I don't feel they should bring Wilder back to the public unless it is against a live guy where he can compete strongly- with a tough guy in front of him.
... and there are options out there, Wilder is a little name to himself now, people want to see him fight and bang. So, they can find the money for him to get a good fight.
I think anyone in the HW division with half a brain would take a Wilder fight for $150 grand or so. I would.
Word to Jennings, Arreola, Ruiz, Pulev, Thompson, Povetkin, Fury, Chisora, Scott, Adamek, Chambers, Boystov, et al... a fight with Wilder for $150 G's ain't a bad. Because, at the end of the day, you HAVE to fight. Take it.

Word on the streets is that Wilder was VERY frustrated in the Haye camp in Haye's preparation for Tyson Fury. Word has it that while he's good with tremendous power and speed, when faced with an elite or semi-elite fighter like a Haye and above, he can't turn it up, loses his balance and backs away and then starts to grab and hold.
We will monitor this.

good post... wilder is still a noob at the top level... short amateur career and he really hasnt boxed many pro rounds either. His team need to get him in with guys who will put up a fight, I still think at this stage of wilders career kingpin johnson is the guy to go for, he's big very defensive and probably won't win but he will make wilder work and it seems he is looking for fights whereever he can get them.. Tony thompson is another guy who a fight could be made easily with , he might be a bit too tricky just now . I always thought he was quite underated but he is old now and was lucky to get past price the 2nd time and he is willing to fight anyone anywhere if the price is right, surely wilder and team can put together a good offer for him.
I definently want to see more of wilder but only against competent opposition..it's time for him now

Yea. I forgot about Kingpin Johnson. All these guys mentioned, plus Johnson, are real, live, tough opposition that Wilder and his team can put the money up for him to fight.
Kudos to Kelvin Price for taking that fight with Wilder, even when he got blasted.

Of course I can only agree with this. I think Wilder will turn a few tricks at the top. But ultimately I doubt he will be the "next big thing". He is definitely the Michael Grant of the 2010's.
He has a shaky chin, I have absolutely no doubt. And as soon as he faces a fighter who isn't afraid of his power and has the chin to handle it or the reflexes to test him he is gonna wear it. Against a puncher he is gonna go down!
I think he will enjoy much more success than David Price though... Now THAT is a waste of time right there! I think he should take on one of the other greenish giants like Tyson Fury or Robert Helenius and if he can handle himself there then maybe there will be some cause for excitement. Right now it's just hype!

Helenius is another big joke. He just dropped off of the radar. I was hoping he would take a title fight against one of the Klits. He worked for it and then all of a sudden he just stopped his progress forward.
Now Helenius is back to the bottom of the pile. In fact, he has been replaced by guys he was well ahead of for a title shot.
If a Klit gives him a fight, especially Wlad, he will be a very, VERY lucky man.

I don't believe that. It's been nearly a year and a half now. Chisora has fought four times after that. Helenuis either can't go ever again, or he is just lazy and afraid to take the next step.
He's another guy I can't bear to watch fight a bum or some weakling.

Fastest road to a title shot for Deontay is via Bermane Stiverne or Chris Arreola. These are the 2 fighting for Vitali's vacated title so if he can knock one of them off it will be him fighting for it instead.
After that there might finally be a unification with Wlad so if he plays his cards right, he is only 3 fights away from undisputed HW champion... 3 REAL fights that is! lol

Out of the three he stands the best chance against Arreola at this stage. Stiverne may take him the distance. Arreola may decide to trade and he may decide to trade with Arreola and it will end before 8- someone will get caught.

Can't argue with that. Thing is I think both Arreola and Stiverne (and of course Vitali) are all more skilled than Wilder and they are heavier and can take a really good shot. But with Wilder's range and power, like it or not, it is going to be a major factor. Nobody can take too many of those shots but then again can he land them.
It's the little things that Arreola does that may allow him to beat Deontay to the punch so although Wilder's punchers chances are high I would still take Arreola to stop him. But this in no fight to place a sizable bet on!

I've stopped waiting and expecting Wilder to 'step up' and become more proof than promise. With promotion its obvious he is being led by the hand into a trinket shot and they will not risk any discomfort for the company project along the way. Her has faced a truck load of stuntmen and used up shells and really isn't learning anything. He has some flaws...his range is smothered, drags his left hand and I think when he is finally hit some balance issues will be seen. Piss or get off the pot.

Piss or get off the pot eh? Fans start talking about crap and they talk and they talk eventually the nonsense is fact to them. Wilder is a flawed fighter right? Wouldn't the logical move be to fix as many of those flaws as possible before putting him against the best
? How many rounds has he fought, 50? People want to see his flaws exposed to prove they were right so they say do it now. What about those flaws? This is an ever occurring boxing fan flaw. Dude is flawed expose it! Um, no. He isn't that good right now, his opponents expose that. A big man in this age of health consciousness can be good into his early 40s. There is no rush. If he is cream he will rise to the top. Right now he isn't. Don't root for a mans downfall while offering advice.
