im getting a dog.. educate me about them
Ive never been a dog person but ive been hanging out at a friend's place a lot who has a wife with 7 dogs and i fell in love with one of them.. its a labrador and im learning stuff about them that I never knew before. Dogs have personalities and feelings too!
Im looking at a Jindo or a doberman..
I want a dog that's like me, u know intelligent, fearless, and good looking.
Which breeds are out there? Anything except for pitbulls because I think they are ugly.
Re: im getting a dog.. educate me about them
Why do you want a dog? Ask yourself that first. If its status don't bother.

Dont be alarmed cuz its not going on my plate.. and what does dogs have to do with status? It's only a dog bruh lol.
I just want to raise one cuz I feel like it's therapeutic for me..

I have own and breed dogs through the years, think before you have a dog have you got time
to spend with it, as a bored dog is a destructive dog.
Don't get a dog on a whim, think long and hard first remember the saying a dog is just not
for Christmas.;)
Re: im getting a dog.. educate me about them
A dog can definitely give you a lot.
The more you give it and the better you treat it the more you'll get in return.
I had my Jack Russell cross Jessie for 13 years, died in 2012. Still miss her loads.
Like someone said once, buying a dog is investing in a tragedy.
Wouldn't change it though. If you know for sure that owning a dog will fit in with your lifestyle then go for it.

If I had to get a dog it would be a Labrador. One of the reasons I do not is because dogs die and my kids would be mortified.

They are not fighters but are very smart dogs which is why they are used by the blind. I would not want fighting dog around my kids.

I suggest you try to run a bath before you buy a dog.

Why do you want to know if they can fight? That makes no sense.
My dog is a Lab and she is the sweetest thing on the planet. She loves people, she loves other dogs, I can take her any where and trust her to act right and expect everybody to love her.
For years I had collies. Those are great dogs and the last dog I own will be a collie. Great with kids, smarter than most people, very protective.
My ex had a pit and that was a real good dog. Never aggressive with other dogs and very lovable, gentle with people. She used to play so gently with the kittens we had. On the other hand, we were out walking and three dogs attacked her and she got very irate and handled her business. Had I seen them coming, I would have headed that off and whether or not she could fight would have been irrelevant. You protect what you love, you don't plat matchmaker.

I'm not trying to get a fighting dog but if a doggie is going to be a friend of mine, I need him to be down enough to handle its own and defend my girl.
If something goes down on the streets with another dog, I'd rather have him be the aggressor rather than the victim.
Yea bruh, labs are so friendly. I've never seen a dog that was so affectiionate.
But for now, I'm looking around for a Jindo or a Doberman.

I had a girl collie that was very protective of me. She was a 95 pound dog- that is huge for a girl collie-and usually she was kind of a goofy friendly type of dog that liked her food. But at any sign of threat she would get very aggressive and she could hurt things.
A very protective, aggressive dog can be a liability and get you sued. And some breeds gets that rep, you know? Being a first time dog owner, you don't want to get involved with a dog that requires a lot of upbringing to make him act right.
Re: im getting a dog.. educate me about them
Don't ever buy-adopt a dog as a "gift". Teaching them aggression or 'defense' as a first time owner and handler will blow up in your face, and more tragically someone elses. Buy a stun gun instead and teach the dog to fetch a tennis ball. Dobies are a rarity these days and I think I've seen maybe 4 in the last few years. Great family dogs and outgoing I see lately are G retrievers or a king charles spaniel. Absolutley outstanding personalities and adaptation. Prone to spinal issues late on and mvd they are none the less cool little dags. Huskies look great, but will eat your fucking face and your kids face..remain Husky free. Whatever pet you invest in..be prepared to invest...time, money, training and life. A dog is not a couch or a can of soup. Its an investment and a reward of all the above!
