Clipper's owner Donald Sterling in deep trouble for racist remarks
Re: Clipper's owner Donald Sterling in deep trouble for racist remarks
Racism is wrong, no matter what the setting. BTW, the article seems to point to the fact that Sterling is known as a racist. In this case what makes it worse is that he is a high-profile person, who happens to own an NBA team full of blacks.
There are some who will invariably try to excuse Sterling for any number of reasons. But you can't sugar-coat away comments made by a person such as this.

What a dumbass. It was a set up, but he's a little old fool. Nothing is in a private setting nowadays. At least assume it isn't.
Re: Clipper's owner Donald Sterling in deep trouble for racist remarks
Whatever it was, the timing couldn't be worse for the Clippers, currently locked in a tight playoff series. As a player, it's hard enough to concentrate on the game itself without having those needless distractions.

I dont see how this is a distraction for the players. They are getting paid to do what they love and if anything, they should be more determined to win and make their owner look dumb.

Well they got the shit beat out of them today. So if it's not a distraction, they just totally sucked.

That's a hard one to defend, man.
A lot of times people make an off-colour joke or are caught using the dreaded "N-word" and it's blown out of proportion by a bunch of guilty white people who just want to point fingers and see other people get in trouble.
But remarks like this where it's malicious, where you are actually advocating staying away from black people like they are an inferior people, that's messed up.
Especially when you are involved in a business that is made up of, lets face it, mostly black athletes and a huge chunk of black fans.
Re: Clipper's owner Donald Sterling in deep trouble for racist remarks
It is racist and he shouldn't have said it, but the media is clearly obsessed with race and thus I am angry as I want to concentrate on day 55 of the missing airplane.
Re: Clipper's owner Donald Sterling in deep trouble for racist remarks
That can not be defended and shows you that racism still exists in society today. Imagine how he actions his thoughts, beliefs and attitudes with the bigotry views he holds?
Re: Clipper's owner Donald Sterling in deep trouble for racist remarks
He's the longest tenured owner in the NBA (since the passing of Dr. Jerry Buss who owned the Lakers) and was (up until recently) up for an NAACP Lifetime achievement award (a SECOND one to add to his previous one) :shakehead: ....like nobody knew about him (the real guy) before these tapes came out
I am just astonished that a guy who has those feelings about different races willingly chose to own a team in the NBA where the majority of players are black. I mean it's mind boggling as to why he would choose to own an NBA team.
And again I will stress this, Donald Sterling is a liberal and there are PLENTY more like him in this world. Guys who want to help out the "underprivileged" because those people are naturally inferior and therefore NEED the help of big government or in this case a private civilian patron in order to live like humans rather than animals. They "help" in order to feel even more superior.
This entire incident is reminiscent of one Marge Schott....someone I'm certain Miles would adore

Barcelona's Dani Alves reacted to having a banana thrown at him during Sunday's dramatic 3-2 win at Villarreal by peeling it and then taking a bite.
He was about to take a corner when the banana landed on the pitch.
We have suffered this in Spain for some time. You have to take it with a dose of humour," Alves said.
"Barcelona wishes to express its complete support and solidarity with Dani Alves following the insults he was subject to," a club statement read.
"Barcelona urges all clubs to continue fighting against the blight on the game which any kind of aggression against a sportsperson on the basis of their race represents.''
Former Barca striker Gary Lineker praised the actions of Alves. "Picked it up, peeled it, ate it and proceeded to take the corner," he tweeted. "Top response."
The ex-England striker added: "Utterly brilliant reaction from Alves. Treat the racist berk with complete disdain!"
Neymar, a club-mate of Alves and a fellow Brazil international, and Manchester City and Argentina forward Sergio Aguero also displayed their solidarity with the player by publishing photographs of themselves eating bananas.
Compatriots Hulk, Fred and Lucas Leiva also lent support via their social media accounts, with Liverpool midfielder Lucas writing on Twitter: "Congratulations on your attitude yesterday. We are together on this fight against racism."
Tottenham and Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor said on Twitter: "Massive respect to danid2ois, there is no place for Racism in Football. #saynotoracism."
Spurs duo Nacer Chadli and Moussa Dembele were also pictured eating bananas with a message supporting the fight against racism.

Dani Alves handled that situation awesomely! Took the piss right out of the racist...granted it's dangerous to do that because the asshole could have poisoned it.

They are too dumb to think of that or expect that Dani would do that. :)
Re: Clipper's owner Donald Sterling in deep trouble for racist remarks
Great job by Alves, handling that shit like a champ.
All this phoney outrage and racial witch hunt just gives power to the racists imo. If you pick up the banana and take a bite you just make the guy look like a douche.
