Doesn't mean you can't root for your fighter even if he can't win, right?
Say you like a fighter but you know he prolly cant win, right? So wtf??? Are you supposed to NOT root for him then? Rooting for fighters is more fun than trying to predict who will win and base all your enthusiasm as a fan of the sport, as a SPECTATOR, on that cold calculating prediction. Rooting for the underdog is fun esp. when you like him more than the "expected" winner.
Pulev KO 1
Re: Doesn't mean you can't root for your fighter even if he can't win, right?
What are you yammering about? Nobody EVER said you can't root for an underdog. Root all you like for Pulev nobody is stopping you.

Brock you have supported Maidana, Hopkins and now Pulev. Guess what will happen?

I didnt say anyone was stopping me Lyle. Im just saying rooting for a real underdog, you have to kind of say you think he's gonna win, even in the face of overwhelming probability. But people will call you crazy for saying Pulev KO 1 for example....or Hopkins KO 1 over Kovalev. Its just that when you root for someone you want him to win but when you say what you want people think you're nuts if he is severely like 80-1 Douglas/Tyson the underdog.
Re: Doesn't mean you can't root for your fighter even if he can't win, right?
When I first heard of Tavaris Cloud, I felt he would do okay, but when he signed to fight Reggie Strickland, I had to pull for Reggie just to laugh at Cloud if he would have lost to a guy with a record of 66-272-17 at the time.
I also pull for Brandon Rios knowing he can't box, he plods, can't cut the ring off, but he sure can bang.
Side note: a few months before the Cloud fight Reggie beat a Tyron Roberts who was 6-0 per boxrec, wow, the shame his family must of felt...
Re: Doesn't mean you can't root for your fighter even if he can't win, right?
I was like that with Victor Ortiz, no matter whom he fought I was sure he would win. I knew in my head Floyd would make him look like a child but in my heart I was convinced he would be "the one" to slay the evil beast. To this day I am still expecting a Victor Ortiz comeback, what the he'll is wrong with me.
Re: Doesn't mean you can't root for your fighter even if he can't win, right?
Brock using the word prolly should have ensured that this thread received zero replies. There is no place in this forum for people using the word prolly.

??? No you dont. You can root for someone but not think they are going to win. People think your crazy for picking Hopkins KO1 over Kov because its 1000/1 shot. Hopkins hasnt KOd anyone in 10 years let alone in the 1st round against a quality opponent. Your just picking results you want to see even though they have no chance.
Re: Doesn't mean you can't root for your fighter even if he can't win, right?
It's not the same as predicting though is it.
What you want and what you think will happen are separate. If you say 'I think Pulev KO1' then people will think you think that and will probably disagree with you. If you say 'I hope it's Pulev KO1' then many would agree.
Who has ever said you can't root for who you want?? I wanted Hatton to smash Mayweather but never ever though it would happen. So I wasn't saying 'I think Hatton will smash Mayweather' but I'm sure I might have said I hoped he did.
Re: Doesn't mean you can't root for your fighter even if he can't win, right?
This is how you word it Brock

I prolly root for the underdog about 99% of the time.
Re: Doesn't mean you can't root for your fighter even if he can't win, right?
whats the alternative in this case? rooting for wlad klit?
im not sure real boxing fans do that
in any case a win for pulev would be forcing wlad into a humerous amount of cheating that wlads ref doesnt call
which isnt really hard coz it happens every time

AGREED. just so everyone knows, when I wriote Hop KO 1 over KOv, its just because I WANBT IT TO AHPPEN, but I know it is highly unlikely if not impossioble. Thats all I was saying. Dont thinnk Im nuts if I saay Pulev KO 3 over Wlad, its nbot happening I do realize it, I just WISH it would happen :)

I agree and all Im sayin is I dont want to say "Im rooting for so and so BUT I KNOW HE WILL GET CREAMED"....its too depressing, its fun believing in fantsasies, like Hop at 49 would KO Sergey in 1. It s just fun thats all, I dont really believe it you know.
