Why did Michael Sprott just stand there letting Joshua tee-off?
I don't get these fighters' strategies these days. FFS throw some bombs back, maybe get lucky, not even a single counter did he throw.

He got hit and was waiting, at the very least, for the ref to stop the match. He did not want to take a knee just to get back up and take more of the same- in fact, considering the position he was in, he probably was too shell shocked to even think about taking a knee.
At the very least he wanted the ref to stop it, or be able to make it back to his corner where he most likely would have said NO MAS!!

with all his 65 fights of experience, and his advanced age vis a vis Joshua, he should have expected a possible quick knockdown or two--you know these young guys start out fast! he didnt seem prepared

Lol, what are you talking about;D He was old, spent, never would have been a match for Joshua and just wanted the payday. It would have been a clean starching if he'd tried to throw for the fences after Joshua already had him hurt so early. The time between his getting wobbled and backed into the ropes and the fight being waved off was about 5 seconds if I remember, he just had nothing.
Re: Why did Michael Sprott just stand there letting Joshua tee-off?
I sort of agree with p4pking. He was only there to get paid.
He's put on much better shows against much more dangerous world class punchers like Brewster and Sanders.
He's been stopped in the first round a few times now. He was there for name value from the prizefighters he'd won.
Re: Why did Michael Sprott just stand there letting Joshua tee-off?
Joshua's 9th was Sprott and his 10th will be Kevin Johnson
Tysons 9th was Donnie Long and his 10th Robert Colay and the spoon feeding continued
Wilders 9th was Ty Cobb and his 10th the 4 and 7 Morales and he's been soothered to 31 and 0
Just a little reminder of opponents showing up for grocery money. The way they are bringing Anthony along is refreshing and after Johnson he will have a better ledger then Tyson at 25 fights and Wilder at 31.

The jump in class is just like Price.
Tysons opposition has gradually gotten better. Not stagnating on journeymen then a massive jump.....

For the first and possibly only time I agree.

Sprott got hit, hurt and had nothing left.

It's quite a difference when you are 40 or so and a guy coming at you like a windmill with cement bricks at the end of it... lol... a 20 year old guy would react a little quicker... but at that age you start to wonder what in the fuck did you sign the contract for? I should be at home with my kids...

@brocktonblockbust
Sometimes I wonder why you even still follow this sport if it's simply no good anymore lol
