Ali threw a punch and the punch landed on Liston's chin as he was coming in. Wasn't much on the punch but when you're charging forward and you get hit in the right spot by a heavyweight, all bets are off as to whether or not it's going to take you out.
I believe Liston got dropped legit, but I do believe he decided not to get up (for whatever reason).
