Roc Nation Sports has announced that due to an injury sustained while training, Andre Ward will be unable to participate in his previously scheduled Saturday, November 21 bout at the Mandalay Events Center in Las Vegas. A replacement fight for the HBO Pay-Per-View produced and distributed event is currently being worked on. Ward has been suffering from significant inflammation and constant pain in his right knee that is severely restricting his mobility. He has been advised by his physician to immediately rest and begin rehab on the knee to reduce the inflammation.
“I’m extremely disappointed that I’m missing this opportunity on November 21, but at the same time, I’m encouraged,” said Ward. “Anytime I have had a minor or major setback in my career, by the Grace of God, I’ve come back stronger and this will be no different. I’m looking forward to a big 2016. Thank you to all my fans for your support and patience.”
“Andre’s injury is a huge disappointment not only to him, but all of us involved with this promotion,” said David Itskowitch, COO Boxing of Roc Nation Sports. “We have no doubt that Andre will come back stronger than ever once his knee heals and that he will be a force in the light heavyweight division. We are working diligently to make an intriguing fight that will deliver a level of excitement commensurate with this great event.”
Lol.

Did he even have a confirmed opponent? I heard some names, but I didn't see anything official. I think his injury is similar to the one Kell Brook had after the Tyson v Wlad fight was delayed. severe case of Bullshititis!
Still , I suppose when you fight with the regularity Ward does, you're always liable to pick up a niggle or two!:p

Yeah after HBO dusted the first one they got Alexander Brand and it was billed as a co-feature. What a waste of talent this guy is.
Re: Ward has pulled out of Cotto/Alvarez ppv
His inactivity is a huge disappointment to us all, but I don't think he would lie about an injury especially against a guy like Brand.
This mans career is going down the drain, you only have a few years to be competitive.
Re: Ward has pulled out of Cotto/Alvarez ppv
So does this set the Kovalev fight even further back? He's got three fights with HBO and Kovalev is the third. At this rate it'll be in 2018.

It could happen, that's why it not that funny!

This is like that feeling I got, watching the twilight films, thinking there was almighty tussle between vampires and weirwolves and all I got was a load of sob.
Re: Ward has pulled out of Cotto/Alvarez ppv
Maybe if he wasn't so content to sit on the sofa polishing his tierra the body would be less prone to bullshit injury?
Kovalev doesn't need Ward, and I seriously am doubting Wards metal to face him. The guy is living on memories at this point.
Re: Ward has pulled out of Cotto/Alvarez ppv
He's gotta have his knees to be able to throw his 1, 2 hold hit combo that he uses. He needs to be able to move into position after the break to 1, 2 hold and hit again.
....not bummed at all Ward isn't "fighting" anymore.
Re: Ward has pulled out of Cotto/Alvarez ppv
I don't care
He is boring as shit anyways.

I'm not surprised. With the time it took to actually announce he was on the card and confirm an opponent I thought a postponement or cancellation was a possibility.
