Cotto vs canelo score cards ?

How did use score the fight ? I had canelo winning 7 rounds and cotto 5 and thought the score cards were pretty ridiculous. I watched the fight this morning so wasn't tried and favour none of them so wasn't watching favouring any fighter but just felt cotto was never going to win on points against canelo since he's backed by golden boy and just just gave a big fuck you to the WBC. Canelo did win but just feel he's always going to get the nod in a close fight like the Lara fight I actually believe Lara won that fight.

Also was not impressed with canelo at all actually think he looked lazy in parts with horrible foot work and no way see him being the superstar some people think soon as he can't bully an opponent that can box he's going to be in trouble

I thought going in to the fight cotto would have had to win very well to get a decision

I think one of the judges only gave cotto 1 round which was very harsh but I also think only 2 rounds to Canelo is a bit close

I have to be honest I wanted Canelo to win but I could only make a case for giving him 6 rounds at best. I thought he lost the fight. Just wasn't enough from him over the first two thirds like I thought would be the case. So I was scratching my head at the end of the fight at those scorecards.

I had canelo 9 to 3 or I thought case for 8 4 is also reasonable, blocked a lot or made cotto miss and landed the far better punches, seems like I am in the minority on this but that is how I personally saw the fight.

I had it 9 to 3 as well. Alvarez defense was very good. He blocked and rolled with a lot of Cotto's punches. When Cotto did land clean, Alvarez walked right through it. Cotto on the other hand felt it every time Alvarez landed clean

8-4 Canelo.

The 6th round was the only round where I thought Cotto looked like he may have a real chance in the fight. After that he was done. Competitive, but done.

9-3, 8-4 is about right

7-5 seems close

It was a good fight. Canelo out-landed Cotto, but not by much. Not by the way Floyd out-landed Canelo. But Canelo deserved the nod.

I was rooting for Cotto but had Canelo win wide. He landed the harder punches all fight long. You could tell very clearly Cotto was the one that was trying to avoid exchanges. He didn't throw combinations as much as flurries so he could get off and get away. I thought Canelo was in clear control throughout. In fact Iwas a little embarrassed for Cotto because I thought it was so clear that Canelo was winning and yet Cotto was looking to get away. It's one thing to move when you are winning, it's something completely different to move when you are losing. If you are losing while moving you have to stand and fight. I thought it was quite evident that Roach put together yet another poor plan and had no plan B per usual. Roach is a great trainer if you are going to dominate, he'll make you look a million bucks because he is all about offense. But if you get in with someone that will hit you back Roach offers nothing, you are alone.

I think they both looked rather mediocre. My stream didn't show the post fight stuff but I assume Cotto will consider retirement, I think he should. He is not a middleweight, he can beat the Geale types butI could name 15 fighters between MW and Jr MW that might very well beat him at this point in his career and those division suck. It's not an indictment of Cotto, he has been a great champion but the best of him is gone. He can no longer make a weight he could be elite in. And Canelo is a decent fighter but will always have a low workrate because he is exhausted after 4 punches. His legs will always be shockingly slow. He will never be a superstar on talent even if he is on heritage and appearance.

right about 116-112 Canelo. He was doing the hurting in there and controlling the real estate. Cotto boxed well early but slowly became more concerned with moving out than winning points with punches. I hope Canelo either goes up to legit middle or dumps the trinket, this whole CW division bs between divisions and non middleweights fighting at middleweight is tiresome.

Same - I had it 9-3 Canelo; I could see 8-4, or 10-2. I can't see much closer than that though.

I thought Canelo looked terrific. I am one, who doubted him at first, but with his wins over Lara, Trout, Kirkland, and Cotto (to me, all were clear wins), I'm gradually becoming a fan. He hasn't dodged challenging fights. He seems pretty real.

I think sometimes people tend to want to see cards reflect how competitive a fight was, rather than who actually won the rounds. Haven't watched it again or anything, but I'd agree that Cotto won between 2 and 4 myself. Only the one card was off, but what would boxing be without at least one Stevie WOnder scoring a top fight.

I had Canelo a comfortable winner. The old boy couldn't put a dent in him and seemed happy to get to the finish line.

I had it 116-112, competitive early, but as the fight went on Canelo was landing heavy power shots while Cotto's punching had no effect on Canelo at all. It was a good fight, but the genuine bigger man won clearly. I give Canelo a chance against GGG.... a better chance than anyone else going around. I expect to see two fights, GGG will find it tough knocking him out.

115-113 Canelo.

It was a close and competitive fight.
