Were Kovalevs hand wraps loaded against Chimbela..?
This story is doing the rounds and i've seen a few videos of the post fight goings on and Kovalevs behaviour to me looks suspect.... VERY suspect.
He clearly doesn't want the ref anywhere near his hands wraps and pulls his hand away a few times.
Let's not forget Kovalev has already killed a man in the ring a few years ago.
No smoke without fire?
What do you think?

Re: Were Kovalevs hand wraps loaded against Chimbela..?
To be honest it proves nothing this video but it does like very suspect to me personally.
Apologies for the racist idiot who made this video, clearly a dickhead.
Here's a post from someone elses take on this video, some interesting point's but again nothing can be proven.
"Before I continue with this post I am not trying to discredit Kovalev in anyway, He is personally one of my favourite LHW's and is well champion proven in the ring. However.... Following the Isaac Chilemba fight, Kovalev seemed awfully shady, with his back-turned and appeared to be stalling for time during the winner's announcement, seeming as if he didn't want the referee to touch his hand-wrap's to raise his hand. At one point the referee reaches out to Kovalev's arm to grab it and Kovalev jerks suddenly away, however the referee doesn't let go, then Kovalev raises his hand prematurely just as the ref seem's to notice something on his right handwrap.
Another relevant point is that in previous fights including his fight with (Inaudible but copy and pasteable) Nadjib Mohammedi and Jean Pascal I , he Doesn't remove his gloves at all. Also in the Cedric Agnew fight he doesn't have the ref raise his hand, instead posing with the belt until the last few seconds of the announcement when the small asian referee grabs his forearm and raises it for just over two seconds. (Referee was Samuel Viruet, known for refereeing the Williams vs Lara robbery, which saw all three ringside judges suspended)
Now at this point this is all just speculation, and could, or could not be true. But it could always be a possibility, especially considering that a fight with Andre Ward rested on the outcome of the Chilemba fight.
Did Sergey Kovalev use illegal handwraps in the Isaac Chilemba fight? Or possibly past fights too? What do you think?"
Re: Were Kovalevs hand wraps loaded against Chimbela..?
just watched it whilst I was having a poo
it does look suspicious and if that is what he is doing and he is caught then he is in big trouble considering
i'm not so sure though, aren't there people inspecting hand wraps before the fights? its believable that he has got away with it in Russia but i'm not so sure he would have in America or England
Re: Were Kovalevs hand wraps loaded against Chimbela..?
These kids that make these videos should be shot.
He doesn't respond to the ref because he's trying to get his sponsered jacket/waistcoat on, as you clearly see him wearing in the next clip.
The next clips clearly show him trying to zip it up, hence the pulling away from the ref.
Finally, the wraps have been signed off, so why would the ref be suspicious? And if Kovalev had something to hide why take his gloves off?
Re: Were Kovalevs hand wraps loaded against Chimbela..?
The video is a joke. No more reason to accuse him based on that than there is anyone else, no to mention he actually looked less devastating than he has in recent years. Chilemba wasn't badly marked up at the end of the fight and took loads of flush shots. Kov has fought guys trained by Nazim Richardson and Freddie roach in the last couple of years, did he get away with it then?
Re: Were Kovalevs hand wraps loaded against Chimbela..?
Good point, you would think if he was doing it those sharp cookies would have nipped it in the bud. The video does look a little bit strange, but I don't know what you can read into that really.

Other than that he is an OK guy.
Ward's trainer will be watching out for any cheating when they fight.

Pretty good explanations there my friend.
Hope you are right n Kovalev is clean. Boxing is brutal enough without cunts loading their wraps.
Anyone that can't work out the first clip needs shooting. It took me a second watch to realise what he was doing in the other two clips.

Can't imagine John David J apart of cheating.

Dubious.
People can get all factual and say that any main event fight has representatives from each fighter watching hands being wrapped and gloves being put on which is true.
The commissioners representatives check the wraps and sign them off, that someone has checked them, that's also true.
But that was true in Magarito's day and they found a way around it.
The dude pulls his hands away from the ref, 3 times? Who does that?
You compare him and Margarito they are similar. They hurt you with every shot and get more and more confident because they know they have hurt you and wont be able to cope with it for too much longer.
You can tell by the way the punches go through the opponents rather than sink in a bit, his power ain't normal.
Not saying he aint a skilled fighter coz he is, and a sick amateur, just makes him extra dangerous. Not am I saying he's guilty. But it's dubious.
This video should get him investigated, them Russians are cold blooded.
Kova is very suspect. He wasn't that kind of puncher at the amateurs.
