Deontay Wilder vs Gerald Washington Feb. 25
So looks like Wilder has found a fill in opponent who doesn't test dirty :-X and Feb. 25th date is on. The good news on Washington is he's huge at 6'6 roughly 250 lbs. And he's undefeated, on paper. The bad news is he's yet another ex Football-basketball second rater turned boxer. He was caught clean and dropped by Tank Williams and near ran..literally..for his life vs Mansour.
Glad Wilder is back but slowly but surely just feels like his career is on perma pause. Wonder how his hands will hold up after big surgery.
THE fight is on undercard with jr middles Jarrett Hurd vs Tony Harrison going at it! Have a sneaking suspicion Jarrett Hurd is on his way to uuuge things. Kid looks the full package and very entertaining.

Hurd has one of the best short uppercuts in boxing.
Re: Deontay Wilder vs Gerald Washington Feb. 25
Washington isn't horrible, maybe just because he's huge and reasonably athletic, in some ways he for sure is horrible. If it wasn't such a trend for Wilder you could give it a pass due to the injury and layoff thing, but yeah another crap fight for sure.
Re: Deontay Wilder vs Gerald Washington Feb. 25
For a short notice replacement it isn't that bad it certainly could have been worse, I can't really blame wilder for taking on someone like this after the original opponent dropped out again :S... It's a shame the original opponent was a bit crap to start with.
Re: Deontay Wilder vs Gerald Washington Feb. 25
AJ has fought worse so can not be too critical.

Fought worse as a champion? I dont think so, Washington Breazeale Molina are all in the same second tier bracket. The difference is, after 2 relative gimmes, Joshua has moved onto Wladimir.
Havent seen an awful lot of Washington but he looks like he cant actually fight. Doesnt look like he hits too hard. Went life and death with Mansour so he's obviously brilliant. He'll hang around for a bit before getting in the way of one of Wilders helicopter propellers.
Re: Deontay Wilder vs Gerald Washington Feb. 25
Washington looks credible on paper, decent win over Eddie Chambers
BoxRec - Gerald Washington
itd have been nice for wilder to fighter a bigger name but its not bad for a 4 week replacement
I hope wilder has a big fight next mind
Re: Deontay Wilder vs Gerald Washington Feb. 25
BTW, Wilder will be 32 this year.
No big deal. Just mentioning it because I'd hate to hear 6-7 years from now:
"Ok..... NOW we're ready for a huge fight, or a unification battle, against an elite opponent."
Re: Deontay Wilder vs Gerald Washington Feb. 25
To be fair Wilder had his bags packed before that cheating cunt Povetkin got collared, but you are left wondering if he'll ever have a serious/massive fight.
He'll get chinned even at this level before long. When you see how AJ has dealt with the same competition, it's more a case of Wilder's limitations making them look good than Joshua being THAT good.
Re: Deontay Wilder vs Gerald Washington Feb. 25
Wilder had a chance to be BIG TIME he really did, but he only looks spectacular when he has spectacular odds in his favor. I think Povetkin could have done him in roids or not, he's just a sharp boxer.
Wilder's career reminds me quite a bit of this guy BoxRec - Faruq Saleem
Very very sad

as Eric says, it's not a bad replacement. Makes me laugh when people criticize these guys as if they're a piece of shit . Whereas if this fellah was a Brit, he'd be the second coming of Christ! look at his record and tell me which Brits have better names on their CV's.
Fury before beating Wlad - NO . Had a World title shot.
Chisora - NO. well nobody that he's actually beaten. Had a World title shot.
Hughie Fury - NO. Being lined up for a World Title shot.
Dillian Whyte - NO. Being touted for a World title shot.
so before people say "He can't fight" or "He's an ex-tiddlywinks player", think about how you see the above names.

18-(12 KO)-0-1 is great....HE'S 34 FUCKING YEARS OLD!
That tells me if this guy was going to be somebody he would have done it by now.
