Told Everyone Brewster Was Overrated
I tried to tell everyone that Brewster was a bum. He got beat by Liakhovich. He was one lucky, tough boxer that dealt with what seems to be a mentally-unstable Golota, then he draws a fan club. He's sorry! Byrd and Toney is about the best chance that we will get a decent heavyweight for now and if Toney doesn't get in shape, then all we have left is boring *** Byrd. The heavyweight division is horrible.

He was never overrated. He was clearly top 10, yesterday, but today perhaps not ;)
Re: Told Everyone Brewster Was Overrated
brewster only ever had a title because wlad ran mysteriously collapsed in the middle of the fight. he hits hard, but he lacks skill. he has continually made defecnes against bums. he was never a very good champion.

Are you sure it wasn't just lyakhovic who was great? Brewster nearly KO'd him in the 5th! I think Lyakhovic would beat Rahman or Toney no problem.
Re: Told Everyone Brewster Was Overrated
I have been saying he would win by UD if he stuck to the game plan.He won but he didn't stick to the plan, he actually traded punches with Brewster and beat him at his own game!Liakhovich really impressed me more than his other fights, and showed he could beat a really tough heavyweight even after a 16 month layoff!

beat him at his own game ??? He was hurt in the 5th and dropped in the 7th. He beat Brewster staying on the outside and going to the body ;)

He stood toe to toe with Brewster and hurt him badly on at least 3 different occasions.Liakhovich took a knee just to get a rest at the end of the round, because he is smart!Brewster was the one in more trouble through out the fight not Sergei!Like I said he beat Brewster at his own game.

Yep. :coolclick:
Re: Told Everyone Brewster Was Overrated
I don't think Brewster was overrated,he lived up to everybody expectations, which are:
he is a hard hitting boxer with not much skill, who has gotten lucky.
The only surprise was that his "reign" took a bit longer than I would have thought...
Don't get me wrong,I like Brewster, he has a big heart, but he is not really
champion-material,but then who is, in the heavyweight-division these days ...
Brewster got a good run and may get another chance, who knows...
Re: Told Everyone Brewster Was Overrated
Not overrated. Stupid fighter, that got beat by a better man. Brewster is like Tua. He could beat any heavyweight right now, but don't, just like Tua. If you have a fighter hurt, and you don't even try to capitalize, you're not very smart. Brewster only hit him with a few body-shots and hurt him, and then never went back to the body.
What the hell was he thinking? I give Sergei credit. He took a beating, but gave and a** whipping.
Re: Told Everyone Brewster Was Overrated
i dont think ppl rate dhim taht high ever? anyway he still has a hard punch and good heart & chin so at 32 hes strait ...its just another day at the ofice baby
Re: Told Everyone Brewster Was Overrated
I think Brewster is a little overrated. But thats why I love his fights, his flaws make for some of the most entertaining fights, and entertaining Heavyweight fights, of this era.

That was one of the best performances by a heavyweight I've seen in the past three years. On his toes, quick jab, in and out. Awesome right hand body shot. The only thing I seen him go wrong, besides going toe-to-toe with Brewster, was his inside game when he took Brewster to the ropes was just ineffective.
I'm not saying Liakhovich can hang with past generations of heavyweights, but in this low-end era he can certainly compete with the big boys.
