Ancient manuscript shows Quran writers writing over Coptic Christian text

Interesting article that I think points to much more than the recycling of paper/papyrus etc and the complexities of religious customs and traditions being over simplified and bastardized over time.

I am sure Quran mentions Jesus in it. Very interesting.

Yes, Jesus is an important and highly respected prophet according to the Koran.
Christians believe he is the Final Prophet and Son of God, whereas the Muslims believe the later Mohammad to be the Final Prophet and Messenger of God.
All three monotheistic religions have much in common and a shared history, originating as they do in one small geographical area

I have spoken to three very high Orthodox rabbis over the past 20 years and they have explain to me painstakingly why the Jews cannot accept Jesus as the Messiah.
Number one according to the Torah the Jews will be able to recognize who the real Messiah is because the real Messiah will rebuild the Temple of Solomon which is still laying in Ruins to this day. Jesus did not rebuild the Temple of Solomon. Strike one against Jesus being the Messiah
Number two according to the Torah the real true Messiah will usher in a period of complete and total World Peace. Strike two against Jesus being the real Messiah because he did not usher in any world peace in fact the Roman Empire was pretty much at its height at that time of warfare and violence and domination and cruelty over so many peoples in so many lands
Number three according to the Torah the real Messiah the true Messiah of the Jews will be crowned the king of Israel. That is Strike 3 against Jesus being the real Messiah. Some Christians try to say that since the Romans placed a crown of thorns on his head during the crucifixion that that represented in some remote and ridiculous way that he was crowned King of the Jews as the Romans carved on the back of the cross the letters INRI which stood for Jesus of Nazareth King of the Jews.
This was explained to me in great detail by several rabbis over the years. This is proof that the one or two or three Jews who decided to believe that Jesus was the Messiah and started their own little secret set we're not accepted by the other 99.99% of the Jews who I believe know very well what the true signs are according to the Torah of their Messiah

The Quran has a lot of respect for Jesus, it refers to him as a prophet (the last before Muhammad) and as the Hebrew Messiah, and mentions His miracles. He is mentioned in 93 verses. It also honors Mary the mother of Christ and refers to His virgin birth.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_in_Islam
This is in contrast to the Talmud, which refers to Jesus as a liar and a fraud who is suffering in Hell. It also has very disparaging comments about Mary. Yet the naive born-again Christians (including some of my own relatives) support Zionism and dislike Islam.

I don't hate Gentiles just because you keep insisting that. Do I hate my Mrs and my kids and my grandchildren then? They are Gentiles 99% of my friends are Gentiles. You don't half talk a lot of rubbish.

Re: Ancient manuscript shows Quran writers writing over Coptic Christian text
I read a book called Abraham, it was about how Jews, Christians and Islam all revere Abraham and it would be a good starting point bringing them together. Turns out it was written by a Jewish scholar and mixed into the book were references of how only the Jews got Abraham right. It still was a decent book, it had some interesting biblical history but I was very disappointed it had an agenda. I do read the Old Testament, I've read the Koran, the Koran mentions mother Mary more than the Bible. I think someone above posted they talked to a rabbi to prove Jesus wasn't the savior. I just skimmed the post put I chuckled, they should go talk to an imam next to solidify what they want to believe. People can post whatever they want about religion, it's always an interesting topic. I had some great talks with a few Buddhist monks in china. They of course don't believe in Christ but said not one negative word and asked me to dinner in the monastery or whatever they call it. They really were very enlightened at peace people.

It was Brockton and I am pretty sure he has talked to at least one Imam. ;D
There are good people in all religions but even with something as outwardly innocent as Buddhism there are plenty of people willing to only pay lip service to principles of love , peace and compassion as demonstrated in Burma and Sri Lanka recently. I don't really like to talk too much about religion online because like most things it gets reduced to very polarised and binary opinions, often based on ignorance, or genuine passionate beliefs that suppose a superiority of one over another. I don't think most of out lives are static things either and people move between positions as they live and learn. I have had quite a journey in which religion has been used as a terrible weapon against me and also where I have found it to be a great source of solace and understanding.

Who better than an Orthodox Jewish rabbi to explain the attributes necessary for someone to qualify as the MOSHIACH?
WALRUS ARE YOU SAYING THAT ORTHODOX RABBIS DO NOT KNOW THEIR OWN RELIGION?
Sorry to break the news but the Messiah must bring total world peace and the Messiah must rebuild the Temple of Solomon and the Messiah must be crowned the king of Israel. Three things which the historical Jesus of Nazareth did not accomplish at all.
NOT EVEN CLOSE

I was simply saying if you truly wanted find out about Christ you don't typically ask a Rabbi unless you want to find reasons not to believe in chrst. It's fine you don't believe in Christianity you certainly are free to choose I didn't realize it was you who met the rabbi I wouldn't have said anything my bad
