The LH division is beginning to thin out. Not much fights left to be made that we want to see. I could also take a David Morel vs Beterbiev or Bivol too for that matter.
What other match ups do you wish to see?
Benavidez v Beterbiev would be a war that the whole world would love to see.
Yarde v Buatsi is a huge domestic fight over here.
Callum Smith v Bivol would be good to see.
Nobody. And I mean... NOBODY... is interested in seeing Callum Smith get any top tier fights. He is a fringe contender, at best, that the Brits are trying to hype up to make some coin. But we know a fringe contender when we see one.Quote:

There's about as much of a chance of Canelo going up to 175 to challenge Benavidez as there is of Trump actually winning the Nobel Peace Prize. (No matter how much he begs for it).
Canelo didn't want any part of Benavidez back at 168.
What makes anyone think he's gonna want to see him at 175??
Canelo is the piggy bank now. Fight him for the seven or maybe an eight figure payday for sure. That's the best Canelo can do for the sport at this stage now that his aura is fading a bit. Pass the torch to the next face of boxing.Quote:

I don't know what they were thinking repeating that Canelo would be fighting again in February (assuming they also considered it would be off an L) but looks like he's out until at least mid 2026 with elbow surgery. I'm half thinking they're just looking at Canelo as a huge flaming torch to pass and squeeze him dry. Keep seeing mentions of a Sheeraz fight upon return but seriously don't think Canelo will walk back into that off surgery. Guess it all depends on how the contract plays out. Looking big picture it sucks that Benavidez has fallen in line with fighting over in SA. Considering the mass Mexican fan base is starving for 'the next' big attraction with Canelo hitting the exit door, and here we are with Benavidez and Bam Rodriquez in imo a massive 'mega-fight' unification both stuffed over in the afternoon golf tournament arenaQuote:

You can lump Benavidez in there with the likes of Bivol, Beterbiev, Opetaia, etc. None are well known to casuals. All of them are elite fighters, who just go about their business. No ducking... no shenanigans. No diva B.S.
All of them would rip Ginger a new one. Unfortunately, Bivol left it up to the judges back when they fought... and he almost paid the almost certain, predictable price.
Hopefully... Ginger continues to fade off into the sunset.
He was convincingly beaten by a guy 3 divisions south of him... so there's that "little thorn" stuck to his side.
I honestly couldn't give less of a damn what Canelo does next. Hopefully Turki will make sure he fights real fights against real opponents. But in the end it's the diva who really calls the shots.

WHY was Canelo the (cough) "Face of Boxing"? Let's begin by saying that's not a title won in the ring or anything of the sort. They faint over the fact that a Mexican can have red hair and freckles. Canelo was groomed very CAREFULLY since Day One. He, like JCC, accumulated a bloated W-L record made up of taxi cab drivers and saloon bums. Except that Chavez continued on to a storied career, fighting many elite fighters at their peak. Including dangerous fighters that posed a real challenge to his unbeaten record. Chavez didn't marinate... he didn't beg fighters 2 divisions above him to drain themselves so he could fight for a bogus belt. He didn't get NEARLY the amount of gift decisions that Ginger has gotten throughout his career.
Canelo has been brought along meticulously to protect his record and his "pretty face." He's blatantly ducked fighters, and gladly taken on challengers from 2 to 3 divisions down.
SOMEHOW... this has translated into huge followings and PPV $$$$. THAT'S why he's the Face of Boxing. Not because of merit... or because he's better than any of the elite fighters that have coexisted with him. But those elite fighters toil on in darkness. Why?? Because they're not red-headed Mexicans who appeal to the female sector of boxing fandom.
Boxing "needed" a "face" after Floyd? Why? Why not simply enjoy the glut of extremely talented fighters who go out there without catchweight bullshit... diva demands... and crooked judging?
Screw Ginger.
