Will Hopkins retire after the fight with Tarver??
I have been looking closely at some of B Hops fights recently, and to be honest i think he hasnt been the same sine the William Joppy fight, since his fight with Howard Eastman he has slowed down alot and it looks like age has caught up with him, im just wandering do you think he will carry on if he possibly sneaks a verdict against Tarver??
I say this becasue i was reading a Boxing Magazine this morning and Frank Warren had an article saying he is 90% sure Calzaghe will be fighting Tarver before the year is out, so say Hopkins beats Tarver i only see two options for him either RJJ or Joe Calzaghe, and i strongly suggest he stays away from Cazlaghe, what are your thoughts??
I think he will not be busy enough to beat Tarver and Tarver will win a close UD, and hopefully B Hop retires after this fight.
Re: Will Hopkins retire after the fight with Tarver??
i think hopkins will retire after this one whatever the result....hopkins should stay well clear of calzaghe. its another fight i just dont want to see happen....i love both fighters and i think hopkins may very well get beaten up...
i think he can beat tarver though...
Re: Will Hopkins retire after the fight with Tarver??
but didn't b hop say that he was definately retiring after the second fight with taylor, and then look at that he's fighting again. i also read somewhere that he promised his dead or dyeing mum that he would retire when he was 40 or something. i dunno, he could be stupid and keep fighting past his sell by date, holyfield style.
Re: Will Hopkins retire after the fight with Tarver??
Hopkins dodged Joe C for years, he can do it some more.
Re: Will Hopkins retire after the fight with Tarver??
I hope that b-hop retires whatever the result. He just seems one of these people that loves the sport a bit too much though.
Re: Will Hopkins retire after the fight with Tarver??
I dunno. Hopefully, but you have to think... If he can beat TArver, then why not Calzaghe ??? At least that's the way he would probably see it.

Yea, I suppose you can prove that. And im sure the fight could have taken place anywhere right, Hopkins wouldn't have had to go to Wales ::** Jeez. Let's get this straight.. Not travelling to another guys backyard to fight him when nobody knows him anyways, is not ducking for christs sake.
Re: Will Hopkins retire after the fight with Tarver??
hopkins just loves his job --so of course he aint gonna wanna retire---its like pornstars--they love their job and never want to retire.

I'm a Philly boy, born and raised, but I think Tarver is too big for Hopkins to handle, I can see Hopkins feeling the punching power difference from middle to lightheavy and then fighting a saftey first fight the entire fight and Tarver not being an aggresive fighter himself basically just happy with a boring points win.
Re: Will Hopkins retire after the fight with Tarver??
If this chronic liar wins, I have no doubt in my mind that he will try his best to lure Roy Jones into a "one last fight" type of rematch for big money. All that "I promised my mother before she died" crap is just that, crap.
I guess millions of dollars are more important than giving your word to your own mother.
Re: Will Hopkins retire after the fight with Tarver??
God I hope so.
It's time to let the record speak for itself.
Hopkins has done his time & he will make history...but he should let it be just that...history.
If he wins...I wouldn't be shocked if he fought again...or even matched Calzaghe.

I just had to see these great champions leave with their records ending with all those:

I dont remember Hopkins dodging anyone, remember who was the unified champ and where he came from. You say he dodged Joe, did Joe ever consider coming down to middle and challenging the world known champ on his soil or was Hopkins supposed to go up in weight and travel across the ocean to fight someone the world didn't know. Hopkins never dodged Joe, and now it's to late in the game for the two to fight, Hopkins is old now and even though I HOPE he beats Tarver I just don't know if he can. He's smart enough, but he's old and slowing and don't have the power Tarver has, either way I hope he retires after this fight.

I agree he can't get it out of his system. But I see Tarver winning and I think 3 losses in a row will be enough for Hopkins. I can't see him pulling a Holyfield in going on and on after the batteries have run out.
