Saddo Boxing Awards 2013
THE 2013 SADDO BOXING AWARDS FROM MACAU, CHINA
http://paradiseintheworld.com/wp-con...2/01/macau.jpg
Ok guys it's that time of year again so I thought I'd pick up the baton and make this thread as everyone knows that the opinions of the posters here at Saddo are more important than any other award that any boxing publication could doll out. In other words, what we say is the truth. I've kept it the same as in previous years as hosted by @CutMeMick. So, please start casting your votes for the following categories:
1. Fighter of the year
2. Fight of the year
3. Round of the year
4. Knockout of the year
5. Upset of the year
6. Comeback fighter of the year (This means a fighter who cameback from having previous bad years, not being behind in a fight)
7. Event of the year (As in either a PPV Event or an event that had an adverse effect on the sport)
8. Worst fight of the year
9. Prospect of the year
10. Robbery of the year
If there are any you're unsure of, just leave them blank and edit your post at a later date. I won't be counting up the final tally until the end of the year. If a Mod can make this a sticky that'd be much appreciated.

Re: Saddo Boxing Awards 2013
1. Fighter of the year Adonis Superman Stevenson
-
Re: Saddo Boxing Awards 2013
My Picks:
1. Fighter of the year
Guillermo Rigondeux. For me knocking Donaire off his perch and making a fighter like Agbeko look so awful justify this guy's vote. He may bore some but he's a special fighter and considering how easily he has transitioned into a pro fighter I think you have to give him credit.
2. Fight of the year
Brandon Rios vs. Mike Alvarado II
3. Round of the year
Timothy Bradley vs. Ruslan Provodnikov Round 12
4. Knockout of the year
Sergei Kovalev KO2 Sillakh was pretty brutal. Special Mention for Stephen Smith's KO of Gary Buckland though.
5. Upset of the year
Jhonny Gonzalez KO1 Abener Mares. Didn't see that one coming.
6. Comeback fighter of the year
Kiko Martinez. Got stopped by Frampton and then shocks everyone by going on to win a World Title.
7. Event of the year
Froch-Groves for me. It's the most pumped I've been for a fight all year. Sky rammed it down our throats and to be fair to them, it lived up to the billing. Just a shame Foster ruined it.
8. Worst fight of the year
Dereck Chisora-Hector Avila. Just awful.
9. Prospect of the year
Vasyl Lomachenko. He's only had 1 pro fight and is fighting for a title next year. Doesn't get much better than that.
10. Robbery of the year
Close call this year as I've seen some awful bullshit but I'm going to have to go with Burns-Beltran ahead of Chavez-Vera & Froch-Groves. With Froch & Groves, the fans were robbed of a definative ending but there is no way of knowing for sure how that was going to turn out, and Vera should have seen that Robbery coming, it's his own fault for trying to win. I'd like to think that in the UK we'd have a little more integrity than what happened to Beltran who clearly beat Ricky Burns on all fronts. Poor showing.

Re: Saddo Boxing Awards 2013
1. Fighter of the year
Sergey Kovalev. Easily dismantled 4 solid opponents.
2. Fight of the year
Figueroa vs Arakawa. This is the best fight of the year hands down. This is the best fight I've ever seen other than Corrales vs Castillo.
3. Round of the year
Bradley vs Provodnikov round 12
4. Knockout of the year
Matthysse KO Peterson
5. Upset of the year
Gonzales KO1 Mares
6. Comeback fighter of the year
Jhonny Gonzales
7. Event of the year
Mayweather/Canelo Tour and PPV
8. Worst fight of the year
W. Klitschko vs. Povetkin
9. Prospect of the year
Lomachenko
10. Robbery of the year
Chavez Jr. vs. Vera
-
Re: Saddo Boxing Awards 2013
1. Fighter of the year
George Groves
2. Fight of the year
George Groves vs. Carl Froch
3. Round of the year
ROUND 1 - George Groves vs. Carl Froch
4. Knockout of the year
5. Upset of the year
George Groves vs. Carl Froch
6. Comeback fighter of the year
7. Event of the year
George Groves vs. Carl Froch
8. Worst fight of the year
9. Prospect of the year
George Groves
10. Robbery of the year

;D
Actually I may have to rethink this.:bounce:

Re: Saddo Boxing Awards 2013
Welcome to the Saddo Boxing Awards 2013!!!
Every year we hold these ever so prestigious awards in a nice, exotic location. This year, we were due to hold the awards in Macau, China. However, due to unforeseen circumstances ( @Saddo being too cheap to put his hand in his pocket and pay for it), we've had to switch location to:
A grotty coucil estate in Peckham, England

Re: Saddo Boxing Awards 2013
Agree with every single one I think, but how did Rigo-Agbeko come anywhere near Wlad-Povetkin for worst fight, are people that silly? That was just a slow paced clinic,Wlad-Povetkin was a nightmare that didn't even resemble boxing.
