A savage, world beater, from Tiajuana...
If Margarito is such a bum, why doesn't floyd beat him and take the easy money?
That's a good question...here's an even better one:
If Margarito is such a killer, why doesn't he knockout a notable contender or ex-champ and earn his shot at the big money?
Just because you beat up other bums from the local Tiajuana bars doesn't make you worthy of cashing in off someone else's name....

Heh heh heh. :coolclick:
Quite humerous. ;)

Re: A savage, world beater, from Tiajuana...
Wasn't 6 heads Lewis an ex champ? Add to that Kermot Cintron,a future champ. Also, Floyd was criticised rightly for taking those fights because he is "SUPPOSED" to be P4P number 1!!
-
Re: A savage, world beater, from Tiajuana...
Oh and cashing in on someone's name:err Why does Floyd want to fight Oscar again?? ::**
-
Re: A savage, world beater, from Tiajuana...
Seriously,if you want to make threads like this,at least make points which are difficult to argue...... or have some basis on truth..... Oh and who would you recommend he koes? the awesome leg hurts so bad he can't even move properly Sharmba Mitchell? I mean that's the guy Floyd beat to get his title shot no? Aside from you and a few others on this forum, everyone else knows something is going on if Floyd does not sign that contract and get in the ring with Tony Margarito. It's simple as that really.

Let me say this again...for arguements sake...we can all go on & break down a man's opponants...but Floyd has fought the better fighters in his career...to be P4P...you can't say that they have to beat everyone on the way up...if that's the case then a lot of P4P'rs of the past need to be scrapped.
Floyd has moved up in weight & has fought game opposition.
People are rushing both players, IWO.
Margarito needs to beat some other worthy fighters & so does Floyd before you can really start saying he made a statement in the 147.

Again...you can discount anyone's opposition...but I'll have to say that you are waaaaaaaaaaaaay off base here.
Everyone has always wanted a shot at Oscar & a Mayweather Oscar fight is still a worthy match & leaps & bounds above anyone that Margarito has faced.
No hate on Margarito...he's a good fighter...but he needs more to do at 147. Why is no one criticizing the man is what I can't figure.
He's been at 147 for how many years? Why did he not face the top men/big names at his weight?
-
Re: A savage, world beater, from Tiajuana...
To be honest my only argument is Floyd needs to fight Hatton, they are the two fighters regarded and ranked highest in around 140-147, if that fight cannot be made, i think Tony v Floyd is the best matched fight available for them and if Floyd is being offered $8 million lets get it on, i cant see Tony winning, but Floyd has lost alot of his snap if you ask me at 147, which was a big tool in fights like Chavez and Castillo, but if Hatton and Pretty boy cant get it on i would not mind this fight one bit.
-
Re: A savage, world beater, from Tiajuana...
Actually Floyd and Oscar would sell that fight...not to mention the story line of Mayweather sr training oscar...
SIX HEADS!!!!! :lolhaha: Omg...he's just as useless as Margarito....walk out on the street and ask anybody if they've heard of Andrew Lewis or James Paige....WHO?!!!
I said notable contenders or ex-champ...
So lemme get it straight...it's okay to criticize floyd's opponents because he's the best? But Give Margarito credit for beating guys that floyd would be torn up for fighting? That is what you said right?

Without speculating...tell and then show me the facts that you and "everyone" else has that prove that "something else is going on" other than what it is....
Yeah floyd says if it doesn't make dollars and this and that...but he also replies when asked about margarito "Who's he, who's he beaten"....
And didn't Six heads just get KO'ed by Mayorga?

yeah, he has a point
Magarito has really gotta step it up, fighting bums like Manuel Gomez isn't going to make him a world class name among non-boxing fans. Yet alone a title shot.

:coolclick: I agree there.
Floyd has lost the pop on the move up & I said months ago that that would be his downfall.
I suppose we shall see.

It's funny that you say that..because hasn't he been at ww for ten years? And still is not recognized as the man to beat...and he has the wbo belt yet you said "get a shot at the title" that's funny to me......

Totally agree..i was saying the same thing too that he'll lose if decides to move up in weight too fast.....

I'll agree there...again...I gotta ask about Floyd being so hardly critiqued about not fighting Margarito but it's okay for Margarito to be at 147 for his entire career & not matching the better or big names there?
Why is no one screaming for Margarito to fight any of the top 10 or even 20 names out there?
-
Re: A savage, world beater, from Tiajuana...
Yet AGAIN,you miss the main point:you asked which ex champs has Margarito beaten,I did not say he was good first and second it is just as laughable as Brusseles ;)
Wack, considering you had a post with a poll with votes to see who PBF should face and Margarito came second to Hatton with Oscar a distant third, and Wack, you call for Margarito to do more@147,then you say PBF should fight Hatton ??? or he should go up to 154 and fight Oscar who will probably have a belt then? ??? Double standards.....
Oh and who would you recommend Margarito beat? Everyone knows Margarito was avoided, heck even Shane Mosley said it in an interview, that he was not ready for Tony and even now,he did not want to rematch Vargas but he knew at 147,the only person to fight who is available is Tony. I criticise Floyd's opponents from the last 3 years because to be P4P number1,it is not good enough. Zab doesn't want any of Tony,Baldozar openly stated and who else is credible?
-
Re: A savage, world beater, from Tiajuana...
Oh and....Who did Winky beat before he got his big shot? Who did Raheem beat before EM? Who did JMM beat before fightin Pac? To say who has Margarito beaten@147 is not a legitimiate criticism because he has fought everyone put in front of him. Also, why did Floyd not fight him for his belt,he is the most legitimate champ@147.

Nope. No double standards here.
Floyd should fight Hatton because that was unfinished biz on the way up to 147. If anyone wants to say that Floyd is running...say that shat about Hatton...there's grounds for a legit arguement there.
As far as Oscar goes...Floyd made a statement years ago that he would come up & defeat Oscar when Oscar was at 154 to settle the arguement that he was the better fighter & to cram one in daddy's pooper.
If he doesn't fight Oscar then he's dodging him...right?
You sure do get testy when Margarito comes up. ;)

Re: A savage, world beater, from Tiajuana...
IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE PBF IS KNOCKED OUT. THE TARGET ON HIS BACK GETS EVER LARGER WITH EACH FIGHTER HE PICKS OFF... SHOT FIGHTERS OR NOT. HE FIGHTS THE GATTIS AND THE MITCHELS AND THE JUDAHS... ALL GAME FIGHTERS BUT ALL ON THE DOWNSLIDE OF THERE CAREERS... HATTON(THE PUNCHER) HAS A GOOD SHOT @ PBF WITH HIS PRESING NATURE I THINK HE COULD SET THE TONE OF THE FIGHT FROM THE GETGO. AND IF JUDAH KNOCKED HIM DOWN(AND HE DID) HATTON CAN LAND A FEW GOOD POWERSHOTS AND GET PBF ON HIS HEALS AND CUT THE DAMN RING OFF HE CAN CHOP HIM DOWN... I WANT TO SEE THAT FIGHT MORE THEN ANYTHING... I THINK PBF SEES TONY AS A DANGEROUS FIGHT BUT I DONT THINK HE'LL DUCK HIM. HE HAS TOO MUCH PRIDE...(SILLY MAYWEATHER) :lickish:
-
Re: A savage, world beater, from Tiajuana...
Well Margarito probably thought he would just move up to 154 to gain more recognition, after all there are alot of big name fighters there now.. Oh wait, that's right.. He got outboxed by Daniel Santos, and then moved back to welter... I just recently saw that fight against Santos, and I have to say it lowered my opinion of Margarito DRASTICALLY.. I mean really, I always heard he just shouldn't have gone to 154, and that it was an unlucky decision b/c the cut.. But really, he was just getting outboxed. By an extremeley average boxer. I have no doubt PBF would beat this guy.
-
Re: A savage, world beater, from Tiajuana...
I sueggest that you watch the fight again P4P bro,as there was no way he was "just getting outboxed",Santos had the odd good round,Tony beat the heck out of him to the body and shook him 3 times in 1 round. There was also a knockdown which was not counted for 1 reason or another and the fight was in Santos backyard sO Tony getting a decision was always unlikely. I had the same scorecard as Lederman and Merchant who hardly ever agree on the score and had Tony by 1,coming on strong,by 2 if you count the knockdown. Santos career also depended on the fight,he needed a big performance so there were lots of factors at play, not to mention Santos coming to the ring@170? and I don't beleive it was 170,he looked almost twice as big as Margarito. You can't just base it off one fight because if that is the case then I have no douBT Margarito is going to walk through Floyd judging by his fight against a glass chinned Judah who he could not stop./even really hurt.If he fights like that Margarito will walk through him!

Which winky shot are you reffering to? Because he had four seperate shots at different titles...and his first shot came after he did what he was supposed to do which was beat all the bums in front of him regardless of his lack of boxing experience...he was 25-0...not 22-3.....then because he lost a decision to a real CHAMPION...he got another shot at a different belt another fight that he lost, but the champ he lost to is still undefeated to this day...and his final lost came against then IBF CHAMPION vargas....
But winky's first money fight, came against shane mosely...only after many saw, including boxers themselves that winky although having 3 losses only lost against champions...not fwooking tiajuanna bar tenders and cab drivers....
Didn't JMM already have the belt when he and PAC fought? I think JMM was actually favored in that fight.... And Raheem was seen as a pushover opponent for EM, en route to a rematch with PAC...unfortunately for EM's people they were too stupid to know that Raheem was on the same olympic team with PBF, and that his only pro loss came after a bullshat ref decided to take points away from him for putting resting his hand behind juarez's head....

:badass: There's too many of them, man!
:badass: Game Over! Game Over!
:badass: We're surrounded!
Too many "Pretty Boys"!!! ;D
Any Floyd Fan that doesn't want Floyd to step in with Welterweight Monster Margarito is just blindly in awe of Floyd's skill. Just as HBO commentators are in love with Wladimir! :D Floyd just stepped up to Welterweight, to say he doesn't need to face the most dangerous Welterweight, right now, is just NOT what a boxing fan should say. If you want us Margarito fans to keep quiet, then pray for Floyd to go back down to 140. ;D As long as he's in the same division as Monster Machine Antonio Margarito, expect writers and fans to expect Mayweather to get in with him.
He's the most dangerous Welterweight. And guess what? ??? Mayweather hasn't faced him yet. I wonder why? ... Because maybe he knows something that his fans don't. ;)
*Too much talk about risk this, risk that. Well, I actually LIKE it when fighters take risks.

Re: A savage, world beater, from Tiajuana...
How can you beat a champ when the champs aren't fighting you ???

Re: A savage, world beater, from Tiajuana...
maybe because they don't want to waste their time with a loser with four losses...

I'm a PBF fan but I can agree that his assesment of Margarito is just to keep the mainstream fans from thinking a guy with 4 losses is any good. It's all rubbish and politics. And I hate using the word rubbish >:mad

Want to know something even more laughable.
I get the point of this thread he should really fight a champ or something. And don't say he called out every champ because the name "collazo" never passed his lips ;) I wonder why.. Collazo is a slick boxer southpaw.. and not a guy who stands right in front and trades THATS WHY ;)

HAHAHAH,nope, not testy, just I want to see the best fights and I dooo get annoyed when I see Floyd fighting Zab,Mitchell etc but not fight Tony!! I see what you mean about Oscar but it is not ducking where there are so many factors against making the fight and I doubt Oscar wants to be used as a stepping stone and like you said,Hatton business is from 140,147=whole new ball game,Hatton has to get in queue!
-
Re: A savage, world beater, from Tiajuana...
This is weird because is considered ducking this guy, because they haven't fought yet right?
But there were soo many fighter that Margarito could have fought before floyd even got to WW...margarito has been there for 10 years floyd not even a year yet...
And by the logic of PBF ducking this guy...that means Margarito must be the greatest of all time...I mean look at all they guys that ducked him at welter weight...
Shane, Oscar, Tito, Vernon, Oba, Quartey, Mayorga, Chavez, Coley,...I would name some 154 pounders that were right there but we all know he can't handle the 7 pounds....
it could be he's a world beater without actually beating anybody. That would sound nice to say if I were a subjective Tony fan...but that doesn't make sense...Or as common sense might say, maybe nobody fought him because he is a nobody...
