Don King: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
Don King says Felix "Tito" Trinidad is ready to punch Ricardo Mayorga in the face again
http://secondsout.com/USA/news.cfm?ccs=229&cs=19266
By Paul Upham: Promoter Don King has revealed that if Ricardo Mayorga can beat Oscar De La Hoya on May 6 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Puerto Rican legend Felix "Tito" Trinidad is ready to make a shock comeback to boxing.
"When Mayorga knocks out Oscar, hello Trinidad," King said on Tuesday.
33 year-old Trinidad 42-2 (35) has not fought since his twelve round points loss to Winky Wright on May 14 last year in Las Vegas. He announced his retirement from boxing two days later.
"I love Oscar. Oscar is a great, great guy," said the Hall of Fame promoter. "But in this sport, things happen. Knockouts come and knockouts go. Ricardo Mayorga is going to knockout this guy and don't be surprised when he knocks out Oscar, he will have the opportunity to revenge himself with Tito Trinidad.
"Tito Trinidad is waiting in the wings, waiting to come back, no sooner than when Ricardo Mayorga knocks out Oscar. We are going to bring the glamour boy of boxing back, because boxing really misses Tito.
"Tito was one of the greatest fighters in the world and he will certainly give Mayorga an opportunity for revenge because he is so honourable."
Trinidad out pointed De La Hoya in a close fight in September 1999. But King was adamant that Mayorga would knockout the "Golden Boy" sending him into retirement and that Trinidad vs. De La Hoya II will not happen.
"I don't think that's going to come to pass," he said, of the long talked about rematch. "If it does, I'll have Tito standing there ready to take on Oscar, but he is dedicated and committed to fighting Mayorga."
32 year-old Mayorga 28-5-1 (23) says that after he destroys 33 year-old De La Hoya 37-4 (29) and sends him into retirement, he wants to avenge his 8th round stoppage loss to Trinidad at Madison Square Garden in New York in October 2004.
But that's not all.
Mayorga then wants to knockout the pound for pound best boxer today in Floyd Mayweather Jr.
"I invite Tito to come to Las Vegas," declared Mayorga. "I will pay for his ticket to be ringside for him to be a first hand observer as to how I am going to knockout Oscar. I want Don King to do me another favour and bring along Floyd Mayweather Jr. He will be my next victim after Tito. I want both of those guys at ringside so they can see the sort of damage I am going to do to Oscar. Come over and study the way I fight. But it's not going to do them any good."
"Tito will be there," said King. "Tito is coming and I'm pretty sure Floyd will be there to."
"I want Tito and then I want Floyd," repeated Mayorga.

Maybe he can look on his upcoming fight as an internship...it'll be kind of like training for a job back in Nicaragua...as a light bulb inspector because he's gonna be counting bulbs at the end of the night after Oscar get's a hold of him. ;D

Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
Damn... I love Tito and all... but why fight Mayorga again? It's not like there was any question about their first fight... Tito destroyed him, plain and simple. At light-middle, it could be an even worse beatdown, considering that was Tito's most comfortable weight in my opinion.
Why fight Mayorga, when he could fight someone like Kassim Ouma or maybe a rematch with Vargas? Mosley is another possibility, as is Karmazin... Actually, looking at those names... I reckon Tito could be light-middleweight champion again if he put his heart into it.
:coolclick: for the article Wacko!

Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
Don is going to milk the Tito tit once more eh... He doesn't want Oscar fighting him because he costs to much! Mayorga is cheap in comparison.
I gotto hand it to the guy though he is damn good at promoting a fight.
I guess PBF may have to fight Tony after all. ;D

Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
Tito dominated mayorga the first time, no need for a rematch. I highly doubt mayorga knocks oscar out.
-
Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
Tito ain't comming back at least thats the world here in Puerto Rico.
I he decides to come back that I really don't' want him to, he should fight Oscar.
He shouldn't have retired the second time and just train better to have the second fight with Winky, it was clearly he was out of shape mentally.

Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
I would love to see Tito inn the ropes against Mosley.
-
Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
I'd prefer to see a Tito v Vargas rematch

Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
CC for the article Wacko, and remember who told you Tito was coming back and it is NOT for Mayorga,if Oscar wins,Tito will fight him.Mark my words, unless Mayorga does win, then this time Tito is going to end his career!!!

Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
De La Hoya will own Mayorga, he is gonna make him look like a naughty little schoolboy, and beat him....
-
Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
Even I can sit here and call out Tito and PBF. Doesn't mean its gonna happen, or that I want it to. Mayorga needs to be careful what he asks for, he just may get it.

That's like saying "When pigs fly"!

Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
First off mayorga is not getting past Oscar and Tito should fight Oscar. We all know Oscar won that fight he did slow down too much in the last few rounds but he won and took him to school. So Tito should fight Oscar either way even " almost impossible" if Oscar looses. And yes I would also would love to see Tito inn with Mosley and then with Vargas as Jr middleweight.
-
Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
nothing like looking past the fighter right in front of you...how's he going to feel when De La Hoya stops him in the 9th? Like an ___! go ahead you can fill in the blank.

Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
Tito isn't coming out, Don is just hyping the Dela Hoya v Mayorga fight. Clever move and will probably squeeze a couple more million $$ out of it just by starting a rumour.

Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
Mayorga vs Tito II would be kinda foolish IMO, and I am a diehard Mayorga fan. I believe in him. Forget Tito and PBF, Oscar is a huge task for him. He must focus on that, and fight his heart out to win. And honestly folks, at least Mayorga is willing to fight the best, unlike Oscar, "I don't want to be a stepping stone for PBF" Delahoya. :P

Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
I enjoy Mayorga... but I think he is starting to realize that he is more of a gatekeeper to the elite more than anything. He's kind of like Gatti. Good, tough, but not overly skilled. Mayorga seems to talk a lot of shit to hopefully line up some high income ass kickings before everyone realizes that he isn't much of a contender.
I don't blame him. He's trying to make money out of everyone wanting to see him get his ass kicked, and people thoroughly enjoying the ass wooping that is put on Mayorga from elite boxers.

I disagree. Was Gatti ever the real champion of the world? Did he KO Andrew "six Heads" Lewis and Vernon Forrest? No. He has been a "titlist" and had good wins over top 10, not even top 5, competition. Both are very exciting fighters, and both have huge hearts, but that is about where the comparisons end. Mayorga is not trying to become a boxer, like Gatti. He doesn't go down nearly as easily as Gatti, and he has been a true World Champion. Believe me when I say Oscar is in for one hell of a fight.

Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
CC for Wacko for posting this. I agree. Mayorga is delusional. Calling out Tito, AND THEN Mayweather!! I see cigarettes arent the only thing this clown smokes.

Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
Hey as far as Mayweather is concerned, against a hungry and determined Mayorga he could have problems. Let's not forget he is a little guy, he's no true Welterweight. He thinks Castillo was tough with his constant pressure? Mayorga is a fukin Castillo on steroids. But forget all that for now, Delahoya is the task at hand. If Mayorga beats him, I will be happy as a motherfuker. This is a HUGE fight! 8)

Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
Didn't you guys read my post entitled, "Boycott the Delahoya-Mayorga fight". Save your money betting on that clown. Kellerman put it perfect Saturday, saying Oscar's taking the biggest fight available with the least risk possible.
And I WILL be re-posting my boycott post, cuz this fight truly sucks.

Yes but Kellerman also thought that Mayorga lost the second Forrest fight, Jirov beat James Toney and most recently, Raheem beat Freitas, so I don't put much bank into what that sucker says anymore myself. ::**

Re: "Trinidad is coming back when Mayorga knocks out De La Hoya!"
I remember Floyd said that Mayorga fight would be the easiest as the guy has no defence he also said "No guy who smokes and drinks is ever gonna beat me"

Yeah he also said he was gonna fight Winky Wright, then went and beat up on Sharmba Mitchell. Also thought he won the first Castillo fight..list goes on and on. And anyone who really believes Mayorga drinks and smokes all the time is very naive.

Do you realize that Kellerman is wrong about 90% of the time he predict a big fight?
